Just another shutter island again...
19 July 2010
This movie has made its way to the IMDb number 3 movie in just 3 days and wow what a movie experience. The graphics were way too cool and the logic behind some scenes were stunning and gripping, and not to forget the story and plot it was ... well wait dint i see a similar kind of a story in shutter island? oh yeah I did the hero not knowing when he is dreaming or when he is in reality and the climax well well lets not go into it. This movie gets a 8 for its originality and brilliance in the action scenes and the logic of the minor plot and the best use of graphics i saw in a long time, where as I reduced the 2 points for making the movie's over all plot deduce-able. Why is the world gone crazy about it? should you watch the movie or not? Well this is the best movie of the year - entertaining at its core (better and a 10 if you haven't watched shutter island else you feel something repeating in the plot - just made it a different concept). Please go and see the movie - it is a must watch movie of the year and sure contender for the Oscars for the best movie award.

May be I was watching a different movie than others out here
13 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't read the book/comic.

Now that i have made my condition clear, let me tell you i hardly was able to keep my eyes open through the movie, trying to find a bit of interesting aspect of the movie.

This had a very lean script with bunch of useless flashbacks pulled in to say the heroine is a mad guys daughter (i mean ain't it a little idiotic showing a big jigsaw for almost nothing - point being the world is a big joke - killing 15 million people is the best way to save the world is synonymous to her life story?) For readers of the book this movie may have made a great viewing but for me this plain was a dumb movie. The action sequences looked huge but not thrilling, the zillion dollars given to Snyder was used but not very helpful. Where was the thrill in the movie? It looked like a upgraded Bollywood (Mumbai movie industry) movie.

I loved 300 his previous movie which made me watch this movie and within 1 hour of this movie screening I could hear the guy in the seat next to me snore. I really doubt was I in a different movie.

Two hours and forty minutes wasted in watching in what looked like a costly mega-serial from TV being sewed together and shown on a movie screen with few of its episodes missing and the rest shown in wrong order. Especially when almost all movie seemed to be in slow motion, was the theater projector having some defect?

Character description for half the characters was lost and missing. How would it be to watch the last part of Lord of the rings without watching the first 3 parts?

But after reading most reviews in this website i guess this is my conclusion - Seems as if some one threw the script through a roof and it was picked up all in wrong order with many pages of it missing.

May Be Next time Fraser Should Be The Mummy???
27 August 2008
Why would Jet Li spoil his acting career with such moves in such movies? This series believe me has lost its charm, and it is dead now, and Mrs Connell should have been dead by now i suppose instead of being part of this movie there is no bonding or romance in the expressions as it is seen in earlier movies, but rather seems like some 5th grade play...

When will directors learn SEQUELS DON'T WORK, at least unplanned theme based sequels never do!!! Camera has not much to do when you are shooting a movie using computer graphics but still has proved spoil sport in this movie. Camera man has not caught the eye of the actors in the shots at all....

In a movie coming under the umbrella title of The Mummy the viewer expects canny duologue's, some awesome graphics, and a fun filled dialogue with the mummy (some new duologue's) Dialogue like "I hate mummies" if you keep hearing it for 4 movies obviously the viewer gets fed up.

This movie became more like a dubbed martial art movie than a well directed sequel of the mummy series...Please for Gods sake don't go to the theaters to watch this movie... instead watch it on a DVD when you have nothing to do on some weekday evening.... You at least wont feel valuable time being lost watching it

Arnie still had it in him
27 August 2008
Well I am an ardent fan of muscles on screen and obviously i loved the movies like rocky, commando, terminator (though not much of muscles)... and especially Arnold being the muscle icon of the silver screen I was absolutely sure this movie would be worth the money, and sure it was.

A modern good vs evil tale with Arnie being a non believer and Satan being free on the eve of the new millennium, he gets his beliefs straight before he kicks b*** in this action packed thriller. He looks older (which obviously he has grown older), but still doesn't stop him from playing that hard character with full satisfaction.

If you are an Arnie fan this is a "no miss" for you...

Sweet movie
17 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A very sweet movie. Has a great screen play. You must watch this movie with your girlfriend with your hands in hers. Though Jones plays this role a bit slowed down and without much make up she does look beautiful in some scenes.

The climax scene where she brings in a raw meat piece and pierces it on a guests table and asks is this rare enough is the most amazing scene in the movie asking for applause from audience.

The character that Catherina Zeta Jones plays does not bring any pity though the kid does bring a lot of pity, losing her mother and then trying to get along with a semi brat Jones.

The kid has acted very wonderfully and so has Aaron Eckhart. This movie ran in select theaters in my region and pulled in a lot of crowd.

You donot need a large seat if you are going to sit on the edge
16 July 2007
When was the last time you sat to see an unexpected ending of a movie? It really has been a long time since there were any... King must be really impressed by the movie if he saw this. a real thriller and was i bored in this movie?... a BIG NO. You can come prepared to hear shrieks and gasps from fellow audiences.. One lady in my row threw her popcorn in shock for one of the scenes... Well i sure think it was thrilling enough. Was this a horror movie.. blood was not much in show but it looked more like a adventure thriller except for some squeaky scenes.

John Cusack has done a wonderful job in this movie... a lot away from earlier dumb acting shows...... Though the movie sets a preamble of what is going to happen to him in the room 1408 there are always moments that surprise you as they never happen in the order you expect it to... Should i use the word Innovative to describe this movie or mention it as old school... Well you can decide it after you see the movie.. This may become the Evil dead of our era...

Did you say comedy
16 July 2007
Did some one say comedy... this cannot be categorized as a pure comedy and it doesn't come under the cadre of Bruce Almighty and Steve Carell though he tried hard is not match to Jim Carrey. This is not a pure comedy and has its own emotional scenes to counter your comic feelings while watching the movie..... Buy your popcorn and drink before you go to the movie and don't expect to have a pain in your gut because you don't do any big laughing exercise in it. Still it has kept with its pace, being a smaller movie of less than 100 minutes adds to its advantage.

It has a good script and quite a happy feeling at the end of the movie... It is good to see these kind of movies as a family outing and feel good when you see your family members smiling after the movie.

I really need some maturity to understand the entertainment in this movie
11 July 2007
This movie is a real drag. I lost some maturity trying to be mature enough to find entertainment in this movie. Awful jokes which even if happens in reality to you wont look funny. OK they wanted to make the hero look a pathetic good for nothing guy..... but come on why was he pathetic in acting too... Acting was bad, emotional content was messed up... script was non existent...No story line.... Some may like this movie or should i say most may like this movie but really for me personally this was a bad experience in the theater, and believe me I watch at the least 5+ movies in the theaters a week and enjoy most of them, This one I walked out.... The first English movie in my life which I ever walked out from.

Do you think Bruce Willis is old... Then take a look again.....
11 July 2007
You bet... Bruce Willis does look old in this movie but doesn't look like 50+ years old. What was he thinking trying to do a action movie at this age. Well I suppose he was thinking of an Oscar.... I would not care if the academy gives him one or not. I am already giving him one for this movie.

This movie is a great thriller which shows that size does matter. A huge hit. I was watching this movie in a theater near a country side. I have gone to this theater and has a bad attendance level, for example the latest bond movie had like 20 people in the theater on the second day. I go to this theater on a weekday (Thursday), and lo!! what do I see - the theater is jam packed and I with my friend have to search for space... well we ended up sitting in seats far apart. This movie was so action packed, fast paced and thrilling that at the end of the movie I even forgot that I came with a friend to the theater.

This is another of those movies which I would have preferred to watch at the theaters and not on a DVD. It has been a long time since raw action has been lost from the American movie industry and this movie just tries to bring it in. I think the last movie I had the similar adrenaline rush was in Rambo III.. but believe me this is much more better and bigger than the older die hard movies.

The worst of the Sequel but watchable
11 July 2007
Why you may want to see this movie?

1) Fast paced - real fast paced, you will not even want to go to the restroom because if you do you may ask your friend about the whole part again

2) The drama just keeps you waiting for more.

3) Music is just great as in the earlier Sequels

4) As people get enthralled by new technology so will viewers get enthralled by seeing new Mutants, new special affects, and new tricks on the screen.

Why you may not want to see this movie?

1) You wont understand some bits and pieces if you haven't watched the previous Sequels

2) You may expect some characters to be given a longer time in the movie but with countless characters you would not want to track them in the first place.. your toes and fingers may not be enough to count the number of characters.

3) Too many dead people and mutants To summarize Though the movie is good and watchable for a good couple of hours and have children ogling at the screens for a long time it is not better than its predecessors.

This movie still was lot more better than any other summer flicks released on the same time which was hyped about for a long time.

Ratatouille (2007)

What makes this movie tick
11 July 2007
Was there a rush of cartoon movies in the recent years, well then this is just the cherry on the cake. Have you noticed a movie theater audience all stand up and applaud at the end of the movie. Well believe me it happened where i went to watch the preview of this movie. This is not a just another kids movie for sure and this is one of those movies that can make you just keep you entertained the whole time you are watching the movie and give you a great feeling when you are out of the theater.

What makes this movie tick?

* Great concept and story, so much for a cartoon movie... man you could have made a mega serial out of this.... is some one going to make a TV series ..... I am sure some one is already thinking about it

* Wonderful humor and emotions, very less real actors could act better than our hero rat :-)

* Amazing animations

* The voice of the cartoons.... accolades to those who spent hours to get the voice and emotions matching.

* If you are thinking that this movie is too complicated for a kid then you are just too wrong... It has enough fun to bring joy to the kid too. when did rat chase scenes become boring for kids :-)

I am thinking Oscars for this movie... Pixar just showed who rules the world of cartoon movies by making this movie. Ratatouille in real may be a peasant dish, but the movie is just like a meal at a five star hotel.

This is one of those movies for which I can say... If you haven't watched it you are missing something.

Transformers (2007)

An all rounder,
11 July 2007
Transformer became a common lingo in commercials for a few months even before the movie got released. Transformation visuals from the movie were viewed in great awe across the world. This movie has sure tried to transform the world in some way and has kind of succeeded in doing so. The question remains Will there be a sequel? Most say no but some say yes there will be.... well forget about the sequel now. So what makes this movie successful. Many different points:

* it has been hyped and it has been one of the most expected movies of the year,

* It did meet some expectation of the hype,

* It has great visuals,

* It has its own funny moments and human characters are not the only ones to give a emotional touch for the movie,

* It was not boring and has a good theme.

Well there are some people who may not like it, some say it looked as if the movie was a motor commercial but hey no one can deny the fact that they looked cool when they transformed into Autobots.

If you are going to watch this movie then I would suggest watch it on a theater and not on a DVD to fully enjoy it.

The blockbuster of this summer
10 July 2007
I had the luck to view the preview show yesterday for this great movie. A great treat for harry potter fans. The director has brilliantly tried to stitch in all pieces of the plot of the huge fifth book of harry potter and is wonderfully successful to get it done in this 2 hour movie.

If you have watched recently any of the earlier parts, you get to realize how the actors are growing older and may become a spoiler in the next coming parts. But also you cannot stop noticing the acting skills of these actors have matured too.

This part has been a bit different from the earlier parts- very less broom rides, more wand fights. The movie is filled with quite a few funny moments that brings cheer across the whole audience and a couple times applause. It doesn't make a difference if you have read the book, this movie will still bring you to the corner of your seats.

Timed well with the release of the next book, this movie is on its way to become the best blockbuster of the summer. Don't buy popcorn for this movie, you would not need it, as you will be so engrossed in the movie. This is a "must watch" movie for every one who has eyes.

Have your read The Davinci Code?
20 May 2006
Is the book on your top 10 list of best fiction then this is not the movie to watch. The movie is just a visual depiction of the book that too a bad one. With Sony pictures promoting this movie to the maximum extent and ending up producing a pathetic replication of the grand book, it was just the music preventing me from walking out of the theater. If you have read the book then please don't watch the movie as the book is in itself a spoiler for the movie. As one of my friends commented before i was leaving for the theater "If you enjoy it then you are mad", well i realize the seriousness of the comment now. Sorry to be so negative about the movie but this is just a word of caution to all friends who want to watch the movie and expect great things out of it.

Thanks for reading this through
