Hey Drax..why is zombie?
23 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
No idea why this movie exists and why they would spend 90 million for this. All the hype and we get a video gamish movie with a brooding Drax err..Scott ward. The forced relationship drama between him and his daughter, sorry he had better chemistry with the burgers he was flipping.

Not surprisingly the first one to die was the spanish spouting Chambers, who is like a literal fighting machine and not the amateur Kate Ward.

When they speak about Alpha zombies which are smart and organized ..oh man ..the false hope it raised. Only to see them to be as dumb as the others. Probably the more experienced stuntmen needed a different designation.

Anyway, I am just waiting for James Gunn's cut Army of the dead - 2022.

Hoping there is no S2

Warning: Spoilers
DRAB is the best word to describe this series. The trailer touts a superheroes saga but it ends up as a soap opera-ish family drama.

If you are a superheroe fan, the action shown in the trailer is more or less what you get. If you are a drama fan the badly written characters and poor acting will let you down.

The series is highly verbose, characters mouthing pages of lines to express themselves , something that may have probably worked in the 80s. If the screenplay was tautly written this season would probably have had 4 enjoyable episodes.

The original comics have a great premise and storyline which were sadly not leveraged. The characters come out one dimensional with no arches or growth thru the series.

Pray that Netflix gets superpowers to realize a season2 of the current version is not worth the money.

Wasted Premise.
18 April 2021
The story and setting had lot of scope but the end product was a huge disappointment.

Rajkumar and Varun were the saving grace of this mediocre movie. The screenplay was wayward, pointless and the female lead left a lot to desire. Janhvi lacks the experience to portray the range of emotions- from a naive, innocent girl to that of a vengeful spirit. The voice modulations nor the body language were much different between the two characters. Makeup and contact lenses were the only differentiators.

At the end no one was afraid of the spirit, the whole point of horror comedy is to mix both the elements and take the audience for a fun ride. They succeed in taking us for an inane ride by wasting Rajkumar and Varun.

Watchable movie.

Looks like review of this movie has been taken over by hindu right-wing nut jobs. Hope IMDB acts.

This is a breezy, entertaining and watchable movie. Nayanthara proves why she is the most sought after actor in Tamil. Reminded me of the 80s ,90s Amman movies and bought back a wave of nostalgic memories. Incidently in those movies too the villain was always a hindu godman/magician, luckily those were more tolerant times .

Music and songs were another plus for the movie. Urvashi was exceptional and RJ Balaji passable.. The downside was the predictability and the poor acting skills of the villain, wish he gave a more nuance performance. Hoping to see more Amman movies.

Pointless movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Not sure why Disney+ released this one. There are umpteen feel good movies available for streaming and this one can surely be given a miss.

A cardboard villain, a stereotypical female protagonist with teen angst and a bunch of friends who can be swapped into any Disney movie, that's what we get for being naive and paying for Disney+. The comical part was the villain's apprentice - a teen princess (without training to control her 'powers'), who is able to break into super secure prison. I believe that at some point the writers decided to give up and let it be.

Two stars for having Prince Harry's portrait in the list of decorated operatives.

Thr disturbing part of the movie was they tried to end it like the story had scope for a sequel....please spare us !!!

Barely watchable.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a criminal waste of all the talent and money poured in. There was either too much happening or nothing interesting at all. Downey's Welsh accent was too garbled and the climax with the dragon's rectal examination was a huge let down. Dr.Dolittle.. did very little indeed.

Average Fare.

The battle scene bought down the movie. It was a complete drag, and was too one sided for the major part. Not sure if the screenplay writers were aware that parents dont bring kids to Disney movies to watch prolonged bio genocides.

Disappointing show
18 August 2019
The first 3- 4 episodes were above average and piqued my interest. Post that they lost the plot.

The hero is supposed to have the power of 1000 monks and it takes him 10mins to beat a gang henchman, serious WTF. Choreography of the fight sequences is outdated, the longish fights wud have worked in the 90s probably.

And the lead actor, guess the writer's note to him asked to underplay the role. He ends up not playing it at all.
