Aftermath (IV) (2021)
2/10
Unbelievably bad. Total waste of time. Don't, just don't.
10 August 2021
The acting is wooden, the effects terrible, the directing amateurish. Above all, the plot - what little there is of it - is predictable to the point of not worth being written. I can only assume that the positive ratings are courtesy of friends and family of the crew. Why... why bother making this crap?

Quite watchable stock Antichrist/Messiah flick.

Nothing new here but enjoyable all the same. Don't expect a challenging watch for horror buffs but I found it worthwhile as a wind-down after a long day. Passable performances all round, including from Tobin Bell who continues his MO of delivering a script as if he were reading an instruction manual.

Dialogue is largely in English despite being a Mexican production - in case you're not in the mood for a 100% subtitled feature. Incidentally, the subtitles, for Mexican Spanish and the English CC (should you choose to enable the latter) are laughable, as has become the norm with Amazon/Shudder/Netflix, etc. The video compression is predictably in the same vein and just awful in places, but don't let that put you off per se.

Give it a go with the free trial of the utterly lamentable Shudder Amazon bolt-on but otherwise, I really wouldn't advise spending more than a buck-fifty on it.

Watch once. Pushy Christian element ruined it for me.

A great concept let down by a narrative full of holes. The repeated Christian message is another minus point here.

Fun to watch but we've seen the same film a hundred times.

Nothing new here. Stock demonic possession flick. Watch it once, I guess.

Meh

Poorly executed. Watchable - once. Would benefit from being less poppy. The 'gritty' gore scenes really don't make up for the sketchy pace.

Awful. Good concept - terrible delivery
5 March 2021
The basic premise is a good one but the ineptitude of all concerned drags the project down to being a waste of time. Given the enormous scope of the concept, the film manages to barely sustain a woefully thin plotline. A few jumps, a pretty girl, a horribly hackneyed Hunter S. Thompson caricature and a narrative so weak you'll reach the end of the film and wonder if anything actually happened. Don't.

Great, simple, gorefest fun

Yada, yada clichés... yada, yada predictable. Yes, it's both predictable and full of clichés - but it's well shot, the SFX are solid, the girl is hot and loads of Nazis die horribly. What's not to like? If you're happy to watch it in the spirit it's meant, then it's a great bit of popcorn.
