Lone Survivor (2013)

Surprisingly high rating for pretty awful movie
27 March 2021
Where do I start.... Had low expectations as all war American movies are usually written and filmed to satisfy wide American audience taste. I was not surprised, movie is pretty awful.

It was somewhere close to Rambo 3 but bit more serious and I think Rambo 3 had better acting for sure and also better script, as well as special effects, locations and believable characters. I guess if you invade other country for unknown reason your troops will die there. So this movie is about invaders getting shot at by locals and dying. Hollywood writing added 80% of exaggeration to the original story to make it block buster.

Avoid, movie is awful, so is Mark Wahlberg. Even Ben Foster acting could not save this movie.

Below average B movie but with big budget and A list actor

First John Wick movie was ok and had some sort of fresh feel and decent acting if you can ignore unrealistic shoot'em up scenes mixed with lenghty martial arts scenes. Whoever rates second part and third one above 5 star has no sense of cinema art and clear judgment.

I did not realise you can squeeze so much out of nothing really but hey, it is Hollywood. To sum up this movie I will say it is pretty but bad, even if you are into totally ridiculous action movies.

Bone Tomahawk (2015)

Wasted opportunity and poor executed flop... Do not waste your time watching it
21 August 2018
I rarely write reviews as surely not being close to ok writer or entertainment journalist, but had to voice disappointment about this movie and odd high rating which tricked me into wasting my time watching it.....

First of all I am not taking anything from creators of the movie and effort made. I realise and always appreciate craft, creative efforts and overall production processes and values are big challenges in long run.

Yet I was terribly surprised that with such good & established casted actors director and script writers managed to deliver such awful result. It is awful on almost every level of movie making. It could not even be salvaged by overall actors performances, and gosh you can tell they tried their best, especially Kurt Russel and Richard Jenkins.

So lets start with basics.... Poorly designed interiors and town overall, on a budget for sure with props being dropped randomly used from prop house. Purely for that reason they lack authentic feel of the era and just look rushed and faked. Outdoors locations could be so much more considering idea of movie and they ended up looking as they were shot on some local hilly back yard of farmhouse... Few dusty hills and never ending tight shots of corners of small valleys...

Cinematography is mostly below average. I mean it. Few shots are beautiful but they cannot take away 95% of just poor visual story telling. What happened to basic rules of composition ?! As mentioned before script is flawed with gaps which are hard to explain. they leave more question marks and head scratching rather than create plot which follows and makes sense. Dialogs seems to be quite coincidental as well as characters relationships and placement. Actors tried to create believable portrayals and you can tell their did their best but half of the movie they ended up flat and out of place. There is mere authenticity in story itself and there is no plot twist as well. Some gory scenes that ad just brutality rather than any essence to story.

I was quite angry with myself that I committed to watch this movie to the end. Please do not repeat my mistake. Movie is low budget creation and overrated. 4/10

Complete waste of time, avoid seriously....

Watched that film after reading some good reviews and expected to get a simple adventure movie kind of entertainment, but sadly this movie does not even deliver anything.

Film plot does make a sense in the beginning and main characters try to create some kind of comic dialogues and then slowly discover a mystery behind past events narrowly mentioned. Then film rolls on with out any sensible plot and with number and boring dialogues and even absurd geological ideas. Still, it's a Hollywod production but even a small children know that boiling water must burns and so does lava. Any physical reasonable laws are awfully denied by scenes and then you start to think that whole story does not make any sense at all. Film refers to Indiana Jones and perhaps some other great adventure movies done in 80s but it only copies it badly with some lame blue screen effects. In addition you watch an unexpected love affection plot with poorly dialogues and acting. Perhaps only good thing about that film is a few CGI scenes but that is just a narrow part of a film.

This film for sure will entertain children between age of 5-9 but no one else. Please, save you precious time and use it watch Indiana Jones series again instead of this one.
