I have read the books, and read all the bad reviews about this movie before I watched it. Therefore I had NO expectations when I watched it, therefore I wasn't disappointed. Yes it wasn't close to as good as the amazing books, and the acting wasn't good. Although I know that some of these actors are brilliant in other things, which makes me think it's not really the actors fault for their poor acting, but rather the rushed scenes and writing of the scripts. Yes it was very rushed. In the book, each scene is so detailed and long, but here, each scene is very rushed. That's what happens when you make such a great book into a movie. If they made it into a tv series instead, I am sure they would have had more time to show everything, which means it would have been much better! In my opinion, that's what makes the movie seem cheap.

It gets good from mid season 3...

As someone who loves TVD and TO, I thought season the first 2 seasons were okay. Some good episodes and some trash episodes. It's too childish for my liking, and I feel like the vampire diaries world has changed completely. Monsters that look so bad? What? It doesn't feel like TVD universe at all. But since I loved the other shows I just had to keep watching. I love Hope as a character. Being a hybrid is pretty cool.
Anyway, it got good from mid season 3. And I found myself looking forward to every episode. It felt a lot more like the dynamic of TVD and TO and more adult, less cheesy stupid childish stuff. It focused less on puppet monsters and more on the characters individually and the main problem that they had to solve together. Kinda like TVD and TO. I'm on season 4 and so far it's still pretty good. So maybe they listened to fans after 2 seasons.
Season 1 and 2: 5/10 stars Season 3 and 4: 8/10 stars (though I haven't seen all of S4 and it might change)

I can't describe how much I love this show! All 4 seasons have been brilliant, and this show makes me «feel» things (probably because of the great music and storyline). As the for violence, it was only the last two episodes of Season 1 that were a bit hard to watch. There isn't a lot of rape in this show like people are saying. More like rape attempts. I don't understand people who think the show got worse and worse, because for me, the show stayed awesome throughout all the seasons! If you love history, time-travel, action, drama/gossip, and romance, this might just be the show for you. The actors are very talented and make the romance between them look very believable.
