Amazing film! Must watch! But..
26 January 2024
But nothing! Watch this movie! The only reason I'm giving it a 9 is because of Ethan Hawke and Nicole Kidman! You could have picked anyone else! They just bring an inauthentic feel to the movie! Be it they are type cast or just big Hollywood names, for me it could have been done by more authentic actors. Now that I'm done ranting, please believe this film is worth a watch! So good! Fantastic cinematography, really authentic script, im not taking anything away from this movie it's amazing its own right! But I did happen to watch it after a couple beers and a bottle of red and I DO think that if you want get into this film you do the same! You are completely submerged into the film, there are a few psychedelic Scenes and I suggest you are on the same wave length for this film! (To truly enjoy it) highly recommend!

Justice the bogan way
19 January 2024
Boy swallows universe. What can I say, it's the best thing to come out of Australia in a little while. Being Australian I feel I can critique better than most and all in all it fits the bill. The thing that got me the most is how it's shot and what's it shot on. I don't know the budget but it seems bigger than most Aussie dramas coming out at the moment. Simon baker did an amazing job as Robert the dad and everyone played their role well. Really captured 1980's in Australia perfectly! Love that briggsy (Alex) was in this and Brian brown always plays a solid Australian role. For the genre and story it was captivating and intriguing. Great for the whole family.

The little film that could. A wonderfully quaint coming of age film
14 January 2024
Scrapper is a diamond in the rough, the little film that could. No fat on it. Has a real indie feel to it, nice and simple story about a young girl in her own world of make believe trying to cope with losing her mother. The script is great, Lola Campbell who plays Georgie is amazing, really holds her own as such a young actress, clever and cunning she knows how to take care of herself, a nice mash of editing styles, which I feel is quite refreshing. The film is heartwarming, playful and fun with both Georgie and her father having to grow up and realise their situation. It's a feel good coming of age film and I definitely recommend it!

Big budget, lots of names. Hard to watch
14 January 2024
I like Kevin heart so I thought I'd stick with it. I know what this film was setting out to do and it did it (technically) it had so many names in it even for smaller roles but it was just executed poorly and was really cheesy and so predictable, it's been done a million times. It's watchable if there's nothing else to watch and you set your expectations low and just turn your mind off. Don't get me wrong. It looked amazing, good visual effects but I'm not sure what happened with the acting. Actors that usually give decent performances were just hard to watch, like too slap stick for the atmosphere I felt they were trying to create, it was just grabbing at every buzz word and trope. Save yourself the time. I wouldn't recommend watching this if there's anything else to watch.

Ben Foster at it again
14 January 2024
This has a great cast, Ben Foster never misses (in my opinion) always such a strong performance. Along with Tommy Lee Jones, I'm surprised this rated so low on here and rotten tomatoes, it's a solid movie about family, sacrifice, hardships and being there for each other through thick and thin. Beautifully shot with a great grade on it. Everyone holds up their end of the bargain acting wise for what it's trying to achieve. It's not a blockbuster it has more of an indie feel to it but I really enjoyed it. Just a good old fashion movie without all the bells and whistles, definitely holds its own. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent
7 January 2024
This is a great series! So refreshing, so good! Great to see Michelle yeoh in a long series, a really good balance of American/western style drama with Chinese authenticity and humour, a great action dramedy with amazing fight scenes. I couldn't get enough I just wanted to keep watching! All I can say is I hope there is a second series! Really smart script. So if you want a good series to watch I really recommend that you watch this I'm finished but now have to fill in the word count so here we are! I hope you're having a great day/night where ever you are, you should really watch this! Do yourself a favour!

The Creator (2023)

Absolutely loved it
9 December 2023
I love The Creator! It's a real throw back and ode to the neo noir, futuristic films of the 80s, I love the look of it, the grain and the letter box format, it feels like a real film and not what we have been over saturated with over recent years with 4K ultra HD ultra smooth etc etc, it has a real grittyness to it! Maybe I'm being nostalgic but I'm getting real golden child vibes from this movie. You hit the ground running with little to go on and you have to keep up, there is enough for you to understand what is going on and I feel once you get into the swing of things, it keeps getting better! Definitely recommend if you like futuristic neo noir movies!

Masterpiece
1 September 2023
I don't know where to start, this film has you hooked from the the get go, beautifully shot, amazing cinematography, paced so well, Joaquin just doesn't miss, such a stand out performance as always! Lynne does an amazing adaptation of the screen play and directs an absolute masterpiece. Just satisfying to watch, it has tension, drama, even comedy if you're paying attention. Stella performance by everyone. Really clever shot sequences and a fresh new way of delivering scenes that have been done time and time again, so many layers to Joaquin's character with snap flashbacks really adds fat to his character. Just watch it and enjoy!

So much fun!
25 August 2023
I haven't read any of the other reviews yet I jumped straight on after watching this but i don't care what they have to say, it's obsolete because this film is a lot of fun! It's so much fun! A great take on Dracula, great acting for what it's aiming for, it really hit the mark, it's not supposed to be an Oscar award piece of art it's a action packed blood filled comedy. In all honesty it's one of Nicholas Cage's best performances! That man does some absolute shockers that I can only assume pays his bills, i feel like the script writer wrote this for cage in mind, it's quirky, it's fun and highly recommendable! You won't be disappointed.

Chris pine's sweet spot
12 August 2023
First off I'll say I'm not into dungeons and dragons but was looking for something to watch and I was so happy with my choice coming from an outsiders perspective this movie is great! Warm hearted with great acting and a great script, I love Chris Pine but his roles can be hit and miss, this movie is his sweet spot, not too serious amazing comedic timing and so believable. This movie has a great message about never giving up, it's fantastically shot, amazing special effects, a real blockbuster for the whole family, definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a good two hour break from reality.

Fast X (2023)

So bad it's good
11 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ahhhh furious, you've come along way from innocent street races in the streets of La, fast 9 was hilariously ridiculous and fast X did not disappoint, from the extra cheese family moments and con disels stiff acting like he's apart of a 90's family day time drama, to the bomb that gets found by ludcris that twice the size of the atomic of bomb in the back of the truck that gets loose in the streets of Rome that sets a light and then becomes a rocket league match, Jason mamoas frivilous evil play boy routine and eastwoods line where he's comparing not being able to swipe right on hand profile because the network is down really sets the tone, It's hard to make Charlize Theron bad but fast x delivers! Great watch on a Friday night for a laugh with friends! Definitely recommend.

Australian cinema at its finest
5 August 2023
Beautifully paced, gorgeously shot, some of the best cinematography I've seen in Australian cinema in a long time, every shot is a work of art, the black and white really capture the mood and every flicker and crease in an actors face, a slow neo noir crime thriller that keeps you hooked, for a lot of people including me it's one of those films that feels like nothing is going on but there is so much going on at the same time, a raw and honest insight of what happens within Australia and its indigenous community especially out country which goes overlooked for the majority, Simon baker is so strong in this piece with less is more, an amazing cast everybody holding their own through out. Definitely recommend it.

Tip of the iceberg
29 July 2023
Yeah it's fine as a one season show Tom holland gives a pretty good performance but he's wrong for the Billy Milligan story. He's too Hollywood, the show could be a 4 season true crime thriller you need a more believable actor I don't know if it's spider man and it's good he's breaking away from it but this story needs someone more gritty and not so traditionally good looking. There is so much more this show could explore, his life is so interesting, Way more into the mental health accept of things, how it's not serving it's patients correctly, how society views and misunderstands mental Illness, it could of been a real eye opener. Missed opportunity.

Do yourself a favour!

Weird Al! Just a genius. If you know you know. This film is brilliant! You'll either absolutely love it. Or not get it, and if you don't. I feel sorry for you. It's weird, it's happy, it's funny, it doesn't take itself seriously at all, just like al. So so good!

I have to write more on this to be submitted but I feel like I've already said what's needed to be said but I'll keep typing so that I can submit this, Harry Potter was great in this, great to see him branching out from hogwarts, it has so many cameos, Jack black, rain Wilson, Will Forte! Arturo Castro, Toby Huss, and many more it's just a feel good comedy. Relax and sit back and enjoy the ride!!

Sold for a twofer
24 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong it's a fun show. But they sell you for a twofer. The first two are intriguing, and in my opinion should be more of the show, I was so intrigued and invested in "what's going to happen??" And then it becomes a murder she wrote haha and there's nothing wrong with that but I just wanted more through out. Like a connected story line. Not just individual stories connected by her being there, I wanted more of her navigating her way around the first episode as it is the foundation episode, mind you I'm only upto episode 8 so hopefully I'm wrong and miraculously the last two become good, but I feel at this point I'm getting sold down the river, from the wonderlust of the first two, and me romantically hoping for it to become good. I love the premise but would have loved for it to be more suspenseful and connected. Overall it's quaint and a fun premise, but you have to calibrate your expectations.

Rest In Peace!!!
23 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Overall I wouldn't recommend this film. It doesn't make sense because the director also directed some of my favourite movies like hero, Im not sure exactly what happened before every take but Matt Damon didn't exactly showcase his best work, set production, great, visual effects, great, all foreign actors better than Matt Damon, maybe because it's based in China and on the Great Wall makes them more believable but old mate Damon didn't do a good job, the woman's bungee attack was hilarious and the way they all shouted Rest In Peace got me good haha.

Tom Holland, great at stunt acting but a rushed and unbelievable performance in this otherwise. Can't shake spider man. Marky mark saves it a little though, script and pacing is not great, I guess this would be good for kids.

Superbad 2: Gamma Y.. make this film
29 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's decent but definitely cherry picked parts of Superbad and changed a few different things around like the race or the lead characters and it's in college but the dynamics are the same, I really like R J Cyler. So he saves it for me.

who green lit this script?
31 March 2022
If there's an option don't want watch this but if you do, as it's been said before, make sure you switch your brain off! Otherwise you'll be disappointed, the script is in dot points lol, it feels very rushed and everything they tried to reach for emotionally doesn't hit because there's no connection between script and actor, quite funny though when you watch it from detached and objective stand point, so much doesn't make sense, like who green lit this script? Lol. Hope this helps.
