Joker (2019)
Todd Phillips nailed it
The more you watched it the better the character development got and the better and more in depth the story got as well. Ok it's quite slow paced but Phoenix is running the show by himself the whole time and not once did I want to look away. Beautiful cinematography and outstanding acting, writing and editing. Ignore any negative reviews and go and see it for yourself he really does give Ledger a run for his money.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
Should I stay or should I go?
The film started of great with the serial killer pretence but it soon began to wither away into another mid budget mediocre Netflix film. I genuinely thought this one was going to be good at the start but it just lost traction.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Does what it says on the tin
Awesome cast, super basic story, lots of explosions and a ton of nice cars to look at. I'm pretty sure that's everything.. oh yeah that's right the rock threw a towing cable up around the side of a helicopter and held onto the towing cable not letting it fly away with one hand that was super unrealistic but cool.
Running with the Devil (2019)
Mediocre at best.
When I started watching this it kept fading in and fading out of every single story like a scene out of a university project. It seemed like I was watching 2 films one half of the film was low budget and the other half of the film was mediocre budget. I've never seen so many "he's the guy from" actors in a film before. The trailer made it look awesome but don't waste your time.
The I-Land (2019)
Don't bother.
Yet again another Netflix tv show that can't hold your attention for more then 10 seconds because of the lack of story and bad acting.
Anna (2019)
If John Wick had a daughter her name would be Anna
At first when I was watching this I thought it was focusing a lot on being a model and then, before I knew it everything changed and it turned into a gripping engaging rollercoaster ride of a film with twists and turns every step of the way. It reminded me of the film Hanna or Red Sparrow similar premise but both well executed.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Standard Marvel
Honestly I don't think I'll ever be a fan of this Spider-Man Tom Holland is just too awkward to watch and it felt like this film was made for kids. Jake Gyllenhaal as mysterio was probably the best part about this film you can always pretty much guarantee he will give a solid performance.
Sully (2016)
Short but sweet
You can pretty much guarantee that any film Tom Hanks is in that it's going to be pretty good. This film proves that you don't need millions of dollars and explosions to make a film worthwhile watching. All you need is a good solid story about a city coming together when everyone needed each other most.
All the Money in the World (2017)
Average
Started off great with great locations and setting up for a good story. Loved the sense of mystery behind Mark Wahlbergs character but unfortunately wasn't told anything. The story was extremely slow this isn't an action film this is a slow paced hostage negotiation with a poor pay off..
Men in Black: International (2019)
Don't bother.
Just don't. The lack of story, Hemsworth is a great actor not sure why he's so bad in this. And the woman know it all agent is just straight up annoying.
Mindhunter (2017)
One of Netflix's Best
This show isn't like the normal mediocre Netflix series out there. This is easily in the top 10 of Netflix's best tv shows they've produced. From the first episode I was hooked because of the originality of the series. It's not the fastest series in the world but it focuses on in-depth gripping story telling and great acting.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
"ANYBODY ORDER FRIED SAUERKRAUT!?"
All star cast, great story, incredible budget and production value. It's great seeing dicaprio back acting again especially with someone like Pitt at his side. Was easily one of the funniest films ive seen this year.
The Boys (2019)
"You are dark and I kinda like it!"
Seeing Antony Starr as Homelander in this completes the series, it's almost a cast of unknowns which is refreshing to see apart from
Karl Urban. Think of Justice League but darker, a lot darker. The story is great and the production value and budget is something of a film!
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
GODZILLAAAAAAA
BIG MONSTERS, GODZILLA, EXPLOSIONS, US ARMY, MACHINE GUNS, EXPLOSIONS, GODZILLA, JETS, HELICOPTERS, GODZILLA, EXPLOSIONS and Eleven from Stranger Things is in it.
Nailed it.
We Are Marshall (2006)
Average, but it's no Friday Night Lights...
An amazing tribute to a True Story. A great cast and seemed to have a pretty good budget too.. just never really picked up until the end, poorly executed was quite boring throughout.. no player character development just felt like the Matthew McConaughy and Matthew Fox show.
Skin (2018)
A True Story
The fact this is based on a true story makes it that much better! Honestly when i was watching this it wasn't very gripping nothing really happened for a long time then it gradually picks up pace.. Jamie Bell is amazing in it. In terms of white supremacy films it's no American History X and it definitley isn't anything compared to Imperium.
Escape Room (2019)
Not bad...
Clever story and quite well written... some people are disappointed with the ending but I didn't mind it. At the end of the day it's not a bad film, it is what it is... it's definitley no Saw though..
StartUp (2016)
Massively Underrated
When I watched the first few episodes of the first season I wasn't sure.. then before I knew it I was pretty much binge watching the first season.. each season just gets better and better! Budget, character development, characters, storylines everything about it is so well done!
Moneyball (2011)
One not to miss!
With an all star cast starring Pitt, Hill, Hoffman and Pratt you can't really go wrong.
Honestly going into this film I was 50/50 not knowing much about baseball myself. With the story and impressive writing it manages to grip you enough to not take your eyes off the screen for the duration of the film. It's stupidly impressive seeing what can be done with such small film budgets these days. One not to be missed!
Point Blank (2019)
Genuinely fell asleep watching this...
Netflix have this amazing ability to draw you in with a action packed trailer then further down the line you realise it's just another Netflix original with no plot. Anthony Mackie seems to be in everything Netflix at the moment and Frank Grillo is pretty much in anything he can be. Don't expect anything groundbreaking, expect a few decent action scenes and a few car chases.
Hellboy (2019)
Can't beat Ron Perlman
Good cast, love David Harbour as hellboy but you just can't beat Ron Perlman.
Soundtrack was like a few media students added in some songs they all liked at the wrong times... B-Movie like CGI, boring narrative, poor acting (can't stand bad British accents) the pig with the scouser accent was probably the most annoying character i've ever seen in a film..
Stranger Things (2016)
A True Original Series
If you haven't watched this series yet you need to stop what your doing and get watching! The character development, story , characters, cinematography and the groundbreaking CGI all of it equates into a masterpiece of a TV series. Each season is as good as the last if not better!
Serenity (2019)
The Truman Show Mk2
Honestly... could see it coming from a mile off... the annoying guy with the brief case who knew exactly where he was going to be at the exact time.. everyone knowing everything about him.. I was expecting a murder mystery thriller that the trailer portrayed but instead got a remake of the Truman show. Great cast and cinematography was unreal aside from that I guess it wasn't a bad film?
A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014)
Basic but watchable
It's got enough of a story to keep you leaving it on but not enough to keep your attention. Very basic story nothing compelling or award winning.
A Prayer Before Dawn (2017)
A True Story
As soon as I found out this was based on a true story it made the viewing experience that much better! The grittyness, the realistic horrible disturbing day to day encounters. This isn't anything like Kickboxer this is a slow burner that's executed beautifully.
