Humanoids from the Deep (1996)
Awesome remake of original!
This film rocked! One of Corman's best. If you are a diehard fan of the original for its cheesy moments and gratuitous nudity, then don't watch the remake. The remake tries to put a more consistent, realistic and mature spin on the tale a la "Alien" or "Jaws"...but keeping a sense of humor about it...as evidenced by the "Rogeman Chemical Company" reference to Roger Corman himself. Well-crafted picture with Robert Carradine and Emma Samms in fine form. Mark Ralston plays a great bad guy. Move over Vic Morrow. Definitely a flick worth taking a look at.
Final Ascent (2000)
Well-done TV movie with great father/daughter relationship
This picture tells the story of a father and daughter trying to overcome the loss of a loved one. Without giving anything away, they need to work together to battle the bad guys. Mountain climbers will love this picture. It's full of interesting twists and turns and has some very good characters. Check it out on Fox Family or on video!
Born Bad (1997)
Tense, low-budget film a la "Reservoir Dogs"
I just watched the DVD version of BORN BAD and found it to be tense, gritty and, near the end, too graphic for the faint of heart. Justin Walker (Clueless) and Corey Feldman turn in superior performances. For a low budget film, this picture delivers. The depth of character and clever dialogue are two things not usually seen in a Roger Corman picture. Check it out on DVD!
Bloodfist V: Human Target (1994)
Gripping thriller with cool twists and awesome kickboxing!
I just watched the new DVD version of "Bloodfist V" and was completely surprised. I usually cringe at the thought of kickboxing flicks but this one has such a cool story that I was riveted to the screen. The acting, writing, directing, and production value were top notch. This one did not disappoint. Check it out on DVD if you can.
