The Nanny: Oy to the World (1995)
A nice animated Christmas special
"The Nanny" is one of the best sitcoms I know. I think that this animated episode was a very good idea of the producers. It was interesting to see all the characters animated, though they look different from how we know them from the opening cartoon. I wonder why they didn't use the same sketches?
Although this special maybe had a little more "slapstick" than the normal episodes, it was still very entertaining. OK, you had to get used to the new "roles" of the characters, "Max" playing Santa Claus, for example. But as I said, it was good, because it was different from what we usually see in "The Nanny".
Der Schuh des Manitu (2001)
Very funny movie
Although I had not thought so before, I really enjoyed the film. There is not much of a plot or story-line, but what is there is enough, because the main emphasis is on the comedy aspect. And it is funny indeed!
You should not expect much depth, but a lot of laughters. Abahachi's twin brother is just hilarious, as are the Shoshone Indians who are pursuing Abahachi and his friend. The soundtrack is very good as well.
Charlie & Louise - Das doppelte Lottchen (1994)
Quite funny remake of Erich Kästner's "Das doppelte Lottchen"
"Charlie & Louise" is a modern version about twin girls separated at birth and accidently stumbling upon each other - this time during a language course in Scotland. Of course, they don't like each other at first - that is, until they find out they're twins. As they want to get to know their respective other parent, what's the obvious result?
Although the storyline is rather old ("invented" by Erich Kästner in the 1950s), this film, playing in the 1990s, is still amusing and funny. Even touching at some points. Friederike and Floriane Eichhorn as Charlotte and Louise are acting rather well, a number of lines really make you laugh.
I can recommend this film to all people who like comedy/family movies. It's German only, however!
