UGH!!
4 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Aside from horrific acting and a plot that is really little more than a collection of words a bunch of monkeys managed to bang out on a keyboard, the idea that two astronomers are not only experts in their field, but also experts in virology and weapons-grade lasers. Even more amazing is that these astronomers reconfigured their mountain-top telescope to fire the lasers and destroy the alien ships - something none of the worlds' military could do. I want that telescope!

Like another person who posted about this movie, I kept my thumb on the fast-forward. While I didn't spend any money to watch this, I did lose about 45 minutes of my afternoon.

Paging Dr. Phil!
26 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Five minutes of action, sixteen hours of galactic hugs, or at least it felt like sixteen hours. We have Saru who has an elementary school level crush on a Romulan who seeks counsel with the Good Doctor. We have Burnam and the Federation President having critical conversations in hushed whispers that don't match the urgencies of the moments.

This has become nothing more than a very drawn out episode of Dr. Phil. Writers, "what were you thinking??"

Boring
24 January 2022
The first hour seemed like three. It's as if Disney/Marvel spent the majority of the movie doing back stories in the hopes of turning this into a stand alone franchise.

Emotional Ship Computer
22 January 2022
Did the writers run out of crew to break down and cry over anything and everything? Now the ship's computer has become a blubbering emotional mess. What's next, replicators upset no one is requesting tea, Earl Grey, hot?

Extension of Dr. Phil
18 January 2022
Seasons 1 and 2 showed promise. Season 3 began sliding into internal emotional battles as well as the ridiculous premise that a 900+ year old ship and crew is now the Federation's sole salvation. That's like saying a ship from the 12th Century would save the US Navy if today. Season 4 had quickly become one huge hug and cry fest. There's at most five minutes per episode of action and 40+ minutes of self reflectionism.

Movie Armageddon on a $3 budget
3 January 2022
I watched about 30 minutes of this and quickly realized the plot nearly mirrored the movie Armageddon, except this must have had a budget of $3. The acting was even worse.

This succeeded on Broadway?
22 December 2020
Have to agree with the first review on here. This play bore little resemblance to the book. While it's understandable that half of the cast were children that aren't as seasoned or tale as their adult counterparts, the adults' talents were lacking. When you consider this should have been the best performance for the cameras, it felt like an off-off Broadway production.

Booooring
23 January 2020
I'm amazed that some of the big names in this movie are showing the acting skills of an elementary school play. Stiff, monotone, completely unbelievable as characters.

I'm not an ATC, not even close, but the script is immediately apparent it was written by someone who's probably never even been inside a plane much less an air traffic center.

Outstanding Show
10 January 2020
Found this on Amazon Prime and decided to give it a shot. I was quickly impressed with the authenticity of the rescue methods and realism, even though the show is 10 years old. The characters are believable but with just enough drama to keep things interesting and fluid. I enjoyed having Sydney and surrounding areas literally brought into my living room as many of the locations were real, including areas where they referenced lat/longs - Google Maps is great for that! I do regret this only lasted for three seasons and can't find out why it ended so soon.
