The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
Another Fincher Masterpiece
Just saw a sneak peek of the film and couldn't recommend it more.
When I walked into it I never expected what I got, this is the best adaptation of a novel I've ever seen.
Most of the characters themselves capture the essence of Larssons novel perfectly, but Rooney Mara's portrayal of Lisbeth Salander is Oscar-worthy. The woman perfectly captures the dichotomy of the tortured, vulnerable soul with the calculating, sociopathic tendencies embodied by the character.
I wouldn't want to reveal anything else, but for fans of the novel and for fans of good film in general, this is a must see.
Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010)
Perry Is A Talentless Hack
Once again audiences across North America are exposed to the smut that is Tyler Perry's most recent film. As per usual it revolves around some family based issue that the audience is supposed to understand and identify with.
Tyler seems to constantly utilize black stereotypes and black cliché to fuel the humour in his films. Not only is this unoriginal, its completely pathetic. Character like Madea are a prime example of this.
However since he is a minority filmmaker he somehow has the ability to garner respect and support from publicity whores like Oprah Winfrey. Its unfortunate that so many people will be duped into seeing these films based on that alone.
I believe the best way to describe Perry's attempted genre is blaxploitation at its worst. That's saying a lot since most blaxploitation films are far from being masterworks (Foxy Brown, Coffy). Besides launching Pam Griers career, they weren't good for much else. In the end the genre took a downturn after the 70s, so its no surprise talentless writer / directors like Perry seek to take advantage of an underused demographic.
Its films like these that make Perry such a Razzie worthy director. Earning him a spot with other greats like Uwe Boll, Roland Emmerich, Micheal Bay and M. Night Shyamalan
The day these directors were given credibility and respect, film died
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
A Great Action Movie
All in all X3 was a great movie, although it did lack in some areas. The first major hole this film suffered was its length. I'm sorry but I must be brutally honest, the last film in a trilogy must always be the longest! I also had a serious problem with how they thought it was wise to kill of a lot of the main characters, like Cyclops had no part whatsoever because Jean Grey somehow survived in a bubble and then blew him up. Cyclops is one of the biggest characters in X-men, it was a bad idea to kill him off.I also do not understand why they put Angel in the film, he serves absolutely no purpose, he looks like he is going to do something but he never does. Curse you Brett Ratner.
V for Vendetta (2005)
An Interesting Action Flick
Me and my brother went to go see V for Vendetta and man was I impressed. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to V for Vendetta. I was expecting another boring comic book movie, but Vendetta had more political focus then your basic bad guy-good guy followup. This movie is all about V, a man alone in Britian trying to fight back against a fascist government where corruption has run deep. V is looked upon as a terrorist and must bring down the government, one man at a time. I think V for Vendetta is an excellent film and the first movie where Hugo weaving holds a main role. If you are just thinking this is about beating the crap out of bad guys, it is that but not really. I recommend this to someone who has an interest in politics and action.
Silent Hill (2006)
This is the best movie game crossover I have ever seen and a powerful horror
I went to see Silent Hill with my friends recently expecting to see another repetitive horror movie but was pleasantly surprised at how much better Silent Hill was. I am a big game person to and when I went to go see Resident Evil in theatres I lost all hope for game-movie crossovers, they had incorporated some of the character's form the game and book but with the wrong roles and had put it together. Silent Hill on the other hand incorporated the characters from the first 2 games and modified the storyline to make it even better then the games. All in all if you enjoy action horror's and you just want a good scare I recommend Silent Hill to you, I personally think it is one of the best horrors I've seen.
