A Teacher (2020)
6/10
Interesting topic, but execution lacks depth
17 November 2020
The topic is interesting and the actors are great. The episodes seem way too short, to portray the relationship between the characters. The whole execution seems like a theoretical approach. As an audience, we see the characters together only for brief moments, which makes it hard to imagine, what these characters actually feel for each other. We don't know if the student just has a physical attraction to the teacher, or if they connected on an emotional level. It is also hard to tell, what the teacher feels for the student. Is he just a sex toy to her, or does she have a crush on him too. Since, we don't know her motivation, it is hard to either feel sympathy for her or to see her as the villain. If the director wanted for the audience to figure that out for themselves, the director should have given the character more screen time and explore her character more. The way the series portrays the subject to this point ( I'm on episode 4), does not give me any more substance, than the newspaper headlines of cases like this.

Don't believe the bad ratings
22 August 2020
Most of the people who dislike the show are conservatives, that are mad about being called out on their bigotry. Also, people that don't understand satire don't like this show either. This show is funny and light-hearted. The relationship between the twins is heart warming. I enjoyed it a lot

Cute movie
27 July 2020
The story is cute. The main actress has a talent for comedy. There is great chemistry between her and the actor who plays her best buddy. My favorite part is actually their friendship, it makes me all warm and fuzzy. Overall the characters are very likeable and the cast is talented. This is a typical teen rom-com which always gets an average rating. If you're s sucker for teen rom-coms like me, don't skip it. Itd cute and totally put me in a good mood.

Ps: most of the bad reviews are from pissed off Bieber fans, because of one single joke. Don't listen to them.

Great action, zero plot
24 April 2020
The action scenes are really good. Close combat with extremely long shots in tight spaces. Sometimes it has a shooter video game feel to it. Hemsworth and the stunt team really showed of their skills. This movie is really more about close combat scenes, than crazy Hollywood stunts a la mission Impossible. Other than that, all the story is already in the title, which is fine for this type of movie. The actor, who played the boy was a wonderful casting choice. He was carrying the whole emotion of story. We'll be seeing more of him. Other characters were not drawn out. This movie is not for everyone, it is not well rounded, it's all action and no story. I personally enjoyed it though. I recommend this for viewers that like close combat action and martial arts movies.

Cute feel-good movie
23 March 2020
It's a teen love story, so it's gonna have some teen high school cliches in there. I like that the characters were all likeable, and the protagonist was charming and funny. I am 38 years old and I thought it was cute.

The people hating on this, are far right wingers
26 May 2019
This show is about mystery and romance. Yes, it taps lightly into political issues like illegal immigration, since the main characters' father is an illegal immigrant. If you're terrified that your right- wing cold heart might actually feel some compassion, don't watch the show. That storyline is just a fraction of the show, but apparently it has triggered the right wingers severely. the show is about mystery, aliens and romance (and not about politics). So if that's what you're looking for, go ahead and watch this.

Mystery and romance

I'm giving this a 10 stars to even out all the hate reviews. I would give this a 7.5 otherwise. This show is obviously catered to a younger female audience. Guys that are looking for an action thriller series, shouldn't be rating this. The mystery is unraveled at a great pace and has so far been rewarding. The story is not only driven by the mystery, but also by the relationships between the characters and their personal journeys. A lot of the characters are very layered. They aren't black and white or good and evil. What I love about the ensemble, is that all the characters interact with each other. Every character has some sort of relationship or history with all the other characters. The history behind those relationships palpable through the directing, writing and acting. Also the whole cast has a great chemistry with each other, which makes the show even more enjoyable. Yes, the show has its typical teen show cheesy moments, just succumb to your guilty pleasure and enjoy them :) !
