Irati (2022)
Dark fantasy Epic tale, set on a pre-medieval Spain.
I just saw this in theaters in Spain. Dark fantasy at its best. I highly recommend it, and also "errementari", the previous film by the same director.
It's amazing how well it does for a low-budget movie.
The treatment of the characters, the environments, the light and the creatures is very well done.
Based on pre-medieval traditions and myths from Spain in the 6th century AD, where paganism and Christianity collided.
It is incredible how the director manages to keep you in complete tension with a tale of swords and monsters, and where nothing is what it seems and even the magic that seemed lost has its place in the world.
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities: The Autopsy (2022)
A true masterpiece of horror. Original twist of events.
This chapter is undoubtedly the most original to date. I'm not going to spoil anything, but it keeps you glued to the seat from start to finish. The resolution of the events raised is as brilliant as it is effective, as well as terrifying and horrible.
The perfect mix between a story of Lovecraft and Asimov, all mixed with good and competent performances, and a slow pace but at the same time stimulating, which makes you want to know more the further it goes.
The music also accompanies its quality, as well as the special effects, which although they are brief, when they appear they are noted with outstanding care and a terrifying care for the detail of the gruesome and creepy.
Fully recommended for any cosmic horror fan.
