American Dreamz (2006)

at best, the WORST American comedy in years.

American dreamz has got to be the worst American comedy out there.

the movie is about a reality show called "American Dreamz",(basically American Idol), where the dimwitted host (played horribly by Hugh Grant), is looking for a different kind of talent on his show. He recruits a young southern girl named Sally Kendoo (another horrible performance by Mandy Moore), who he dubs "someone you can masturbate over"), and he also recruits an Arab named Omer who is actually a splinter-cell terrorist planning to kill the president who is guest appearing on the show.

I understand that this film is meant to be a satire, making fun of America and Iraq, but often times it is quite offensive. The acting is horrible and the characters are very easy to hate. The only decent and lovable character in the whole movie is Omer, (who actually decides to do the right thing and not detonate the bomb). Mandy Moore's character uses her mentally unstable boyfriend who just returned from Iraq to gain popularity in the show. Dennis Quaid horribly plays the dumbfounded president who has to take "happy pills" in order to keep going. He says stupid stupid things on the live TV show about the Iraq War which just makes you want to shoot him.

The humor in it is occasionally funny when its not insulting one specific topic, but otherwise many people will take offense.

Overall, this film is meant for low-lifes and people with a horrible sense of humor.

2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

A really fun enjoyable action flick!

This film is more of an action comedy then an action which the first film was. This film is about Brian O' Conner who goes back to fighting crime with his buddy Roman Pearce and secret agent Monica Fuentes to bring down the notorious criminal Carter Verone. What I think people don't get about this film is unlike the first, this film is just plain out in good 'ol fun. This is definitely not meant not to be serious at any level. I would think people could tell just by how the actors play their characters. The acting is very good because you can see that the actors are having fun doing this flick to make it an actual fun movie. Even though it is a fun film, the action scenes are great. Like when the car flies onto that boat; I thought that was awesome!!

This film is like a mix of "Hollywood Homicide" and "The French Connection"

Overall I think this is a great little afternoon sit on the couch on a sunny day and leave the screen door open movie.

My take: 10/10

Crocodile Dundee II (1988)

This is really a very enjoyable film!

The fist film was really just a comedy about a man from Australia going to New York City with a reporter who he falls in love with. This film is more of an action comedy. This film is when gangsters are wanting to get Sue and they follow Sue and Mick to Australia where you can guess what sort of stuff happens. The action is very enjoyable and it is also ridiculous and hilarious - in a good way. The acting is very good. This is a good film if you want to sit down for lunch and eat soup in your living room and enjoy some laughs and nice action.

I recommend this to anybody who likes Crocodile Dundee and North By Northwest put together.

My take: 10/10

Army of Darkness (1992)

The most hilarious Campbell movie I've ever seen!

Like it's predecessors, this movie was directed by Sam Raimi and starred Bruce Campbell. Evil Dead was horror, Evil Dead II was horror comedy, and this is just straight out hilarious. When I first bought this movie, I thought it wasn't gonna be that good. Finally, after a year of it sitting their in my collection, I picked it up, popped it in the DVD player and watched. I was proved wrong. I was laughing so hard, I started running around, I hit my head on the wall and got a concussion. This film takes off exactly where Evil Dead II left off. I love that little narrative that Ash gives at the beginning. The movie is basically about Ash, who gets transported back in time and gets captured by knights in 1300 A.D. Once they believe he is the man sent to destroy the deadites, he learns that the only way he can get back home is to receive the Necronomicon and destroy the army of darkness. Bruce Campbell always has to make it hard for himself. Ash has to go through heroic, dangerous, and hilarious obstacles to achieve his goal. Between the cartwheeling deadite in the pit, the mini ashes, evil ash, the hilarious army of skeletons, and Evil Ash again, this has to be th most hilarious action ever. And Ash is so obnoxious, it's hilarious to watch him get pummeled by every barrel of lard and skeleton in his path. The key that makes this movie so good is the blend of comedy and action. The special effects may be flawed, but are breathtakingly good for this type of movie. You'll have to watch this movie to really see how good this is. This is the king of cheesy action comedies.
