La sociedad de la nieve (2023)
an experience as much as a movie...an emotional rollercoaster which doesn't hold back on what really happened.
I remember watching the movie 'Alive' years ago, it was a good movie but lacked emotion, character development and was in no way a 'window into their world' as this is..some people will find parts hard to watch but it's something you have to see just to TRY and understand how it must have felt up there alone and isolated from the world with the bitter cold and starvation...the plane crash soon into the movie is a powerful scene in itself but this is just the start of a hellish 72 days for these young men...it's spanish with english subs and it should be, it adds authenticity and when i learned the survivors of the crash had all got together to watch this movie before it was released and had all given it the thumbs up as a very realisitic portrayal of what happened it made it so much more than just another movie...a must watch! 10/10.
Blackbird (2019)
a perfect afternoon feel good film even with the subject matter at hand
I went into this blind without reading any reviews just due to the cast and i'm glad i did because had i come and looked at the reviews here i probably would never have watched it..Sam Neil and Susan Sarandon are great as usual and as much as the story seems bleak and depressing it's a real afternoon feel good film which was pleasantly surprising, i don't usually do soppy feel good movies but due to the story and having lost multiple members of my family to cancer i was intrigued at how this movie would play out and come across given its subject matter but it's a beautiful story, granted there was a few moments that could have been done better and the dinner table 'rap' from the nephew was 60 seconds of cringe but that aside if your considering watching it seriously give it a go, it isn't too long at around 90 minutes and you'll be pleased you did!
Impulse (2018)
can't believe Youtube made this, it's HBO level! THE only bad about this show is S3 doesn't look like it's coming
I never write reviews...but when i back a series so much i feel the need to come on here and rate it a 10 just so it gets to the recognition it deserves it says a lot! I hate comedies and i hate cheesy 'teen' movies and this is neither...top notch acting, dialogue, cinemtogrpahy, it's a spin off the 'Jumper' books and movie and is about a young girl discovering her ability to 'jump' coming to terms with it and her life around her and every single character has depth...much much darker and eerie atmosphere than Jumer mind! 10/10 gutted it's yet to be reviewed for Season 3... :( hopefully someone will see sense and pick this back up! Crazy to thing that this was from Youtube of all platforms too! Didn't even know they made shows this good...it's HBO/AMC level!
Mayor of Kingstown (2021)
Taylor Sheridan take a bow...PERFECT!!! and i haven't even finished it yet! Jeremy Renner's best gig to date. period
I haven't even got round to finishing it yet (3 episodes to go) and i think i've only ever felt the need to leave a review on about 3 other shows/movies but this was another one! Outstanding acting, storylines, characters, dialogue, cinematography, music...the list goes on, very dark, very brutal, and most importantly very real... shout out to Aidan Gillen (litttlefinger from Game of thrones) who plays the same dark scheming type role to perfection and is terrifying! Can't wait to watch the last few episodes! Every actor/actress is superb in every scene and i'll be amazed if Jeremy Renner, Taylor sheridan and just the show overall doesn't pick up a fair few awards this year! I haven't watched Yellowstone yet but if it's half as good as this then thank you Mr Taylor Sheridan, i will be watching that next! 10/10...say no more.
Resident Evil (2022)
NETFLIX is well known for it's great series...however this is not one of them in the slghtest!
Don't waste your time....if your a die hard resi fan then watch it just for the sake of it but be warned, you wont get the time back...not sure why Netflix decided to get involved with it....the new 'welcome to racoon city' movie is better and even that was pretty bad!
The Terminal List (2022)
10/10...nothing more to say!
I've never felt the need to write a review on IMDB for absolutely anything...until now!
Jack Carr (former SEAL) the author of 'The terminal list' which is book 1 of 5 or 6 which i have never read but holy moly i sure will be and i'll be shocked if this doesn't end up with either a second series or a carry on of the character and story arc we see in these first 8 episodes!
Stop wasting your time reading reviews and slap on episode 1!!! Fans of things like 'Zero dark thirty', 'Act of valour', SEAL team...(you get the picture) will be hook, line and sinker within the first 10 minutes!
