Alien: Covenant (2017)
A worthy sequel to Prometheus
I loved Prometheus and so did I love Alien: Covenant. People make the mistake to compare this franchise with the Alien one. Alien series can be considered more as action films (similar to other 80-90s movies), while these series reside more in the mystery field; both of them are combined with the sci-fi element. Prometheus and Alien: Covenant deal with the philosophical, ethical and spiritual concepts around creation, life and death, while including the good old and beloved xenomorph from Alien. The idea of the existence of "Engineers" somewhere in the Universe was very appealing to me. Prometheus ended with a cliffhanger and left me looking forward to the release of Part 2. Alien: Covenant did not disappoint me. Added few pieces to the storyline, good action and pretty decent acting. I look forward for Part 3. Let's hope the final ending of the series will be satisfying enough and all questions will be answered.
Ron's Gone Wrong (2021)
Great movie, terrible ending
The first half of the movie was unique, fun and an easy watch. I really enjoyed it!!! It focused on the boy's and bot's friendship development. I loved the bot and sympathized with the kid. However, the plot of the second half of the movie was complicated. Too much action going on, too many important messages coming through. The ending was horrible, inexplicably frustrating. It's a shame such a wonderful movie progressed like this. I still recommend watching it, though.
Malasaña 32 (2020)
Overall good
Good directing, acting and scenography - minus some special effects. Good storyline and execution, except the ending which was pretty unsatisfactory for me.
First Reformed (2017)
Huge disappointment
I wanted for so long to watch this movie, only to be hugely disappointed. Pretentious and boring. No mystery, no thrill. Just drama, if so. Fails to deliver the message. Ending is shockingly abrupt and incomprehensible.
Dune (2021)
Who gives the ratings in here???
The movie was awful from the beginning. Was I watching this at home 5min in, I would shut it. Too many complex names to keep up, complicated plot, dreading... Two and a half hours long... Nothing catching in the storyline, just wondering where all this goes. Decent acting from most of the cast (Oscar Isaac and Jason Momoa were great), but horrible plot and execution. Also I didn't like the religious implications in the movie, with the arabic names, concepts of holy war and killing, especially with terrorism currently blossoming in the world. I never felt connected to the hero throughout the movie. I didn't even felt there was any good reason for him to be called a hero.
Inception (2010)
Entertaining, but...
The theme of the movie was interesting, yet not well executed. Too long, plotholes, confusing and much luck just to work every little detail-not realistic. For such important mission, team should be more professional and meticulous. Still, enjoyed the movie and I could definitely rewatch it.
Lake Mungo (2008)
Much like a real documentary
Which means it isn't a horror, but a drama-mystery film. There were only a few tense moments. Acting was good, very convincing. Story is kind of messed up without specific direction. Extremely slow paced, and even boring at times.
Escape Room (2019)
Horrible and unrealistic ending
Pretty decent as a thriller, unclear story details and fast execution, hard to follow, terrible ending.I actually don't recommend watching this movie. There are better escape movies.
Upgrade (2018)
Disagree with other reviews
I found the reason everything happened to be ridiculous. There are some plotholes and non realistic depiction of future society. Major contradictions between technological advancements and way of living. Good action film, though.
