Love the imaginative unconventional homes
I love this series. Especially the Bali bamboo houses, the African, the Iceland, sweden, France & India. So connected to local materials, history & family. My favorite was the Iceland concrete factory house.
The most boring ones were the ones in USA in Malibu & Austin, Long Island, Chicago . Expensive, shallow & disconnected.
O Hóspede Americano (2021)
An admired president doing an admired activity!
I stumbled onto this series by accident. What a wonderful series. Gives a peek into president Theodore Roosevelt who I have admired mainly because he was an environmentalist. I also learned about his expeditions & his speech right after being shot. I can't imagine any modern president doing that. It shows how capitalist's greed defeated democracy & illustrates how Americans choose to solve all issues with guns. He went toe to toe with JPMorgan & all their threats to withhold campaign contributions. 👏👏👏. Which other American president has done that?
However, I would love to see a similarly well made series about President Washington. For some reason Hollywood has just chosen to ignore him even though he was the first president 🤔
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
Exhilarating. Thank you Ben Stiller
Love love love this movie. The amazing scenery, excellent story, unpredictable ending
I wish I could watch this exhilarating movie everyday. It's so inspiring, uplifting, funny & heart warming. It is going to be my all time favorite movie. Makes me want to hug the world. Thank you Ben Stiller
Up in the Air (2009)
Every movie pushes the theory that we can only be happy surrounded by other human beings.
This movie made me think about why some people feel incomplete without relationships & why some are prefer being alone. I used to be the former & now I'm the latter. But the movie disappointed me in it's ending where Clooney regrets his independent life style. Every movie & TV series pushes the theory that we can only be happy surrounded by other human beings. Recently, I have questioned what I had been Brainwashed into thinking all these years & realized that I don't need it. I'm content with isolation & others can be too if you allow yourself to.
Also, made me realize why men are afraid of commitments.
Noor (2017)
Ode to a narcissistic person
A sad attempt at a Bridgette Jonesesque movie without the comedy. What an embarrassingly narcissism apologist movie. 3 hours devoted to a snobby, sloppy, selfish peterpan character that all her friends and family keep making excuses for. Her refusal to grow up & her constant negativity is supposed to be cute? Who thought making this movie is a good idea?
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)
Reminiscent of cheesy old bond movies
This movie reminded me of the old bond movies. Cheesy villains and gadgets, women with theatrical make up, wall-to-wall yellow teeth and loud climatic music in wildly inappropriate situations. But I thoroughly enjoyed its funny moments. Especially when they pointed out the differences between Americans and the British. It had the best fight sequences I have ever seen. I'm a big fan of cleverly choreographed smooth fight sequences with impossibly fluid moves. But the highlight of the movie was clearly Elton John in his multicolored chicken costume. He was just hilarious.
Logan Lucky (2017)
I loved the light hearted fun movie
I liked it even more after reading Steven Soderbergh's interview about cutting out big studios from the profits and sharing it with the crew instead. Good for him! "The film is also an answer to questions he's been grappling with his whole career: What if you could make a movie that cut out studios entirely, allowing the filmmaker to do as he or she pleased? What if infamously shady studio accounting could be reduced to something as simple as a password-protected website, where everyone involved with the film— from the producers to the costume designer to Adam Driver— could simply log on and see how much money the film had made, and what percentage of that money was theirs?"
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (2016)
Unbelievably awful
We live in strange times where you have to watch comedians to get the honest, latest political happenings and watch politicians for comedy. I love watching Stewart, Colbert, Maher and John Oliver. Informative, funny, exposing the truth. When Bee came along I was happy to see a female comedian get a late night show. But God is she awful! How did someone so dumb and unfunny come from Canada and get her own show? Her show has ZERO wit or revealing moments like the other shows do. I love listening to political commentary that makes me think. Bee just states the obvious that we have all been thinking. There are no revealing or "aha! moments". A sad start for the first female late night show :( SO EMBARRASSING!
