I tried to like it but it is really a bad movie. A couple interesting twists and there are really interesting filmed scenes like the car chase (even if not very effective). Very slow to start. I kept looking at my watch and trying to figure out how they were going to wrap it up in the last 15 minutes. And yes they do wrap it up. There are also some very tired tropes.

Batman Begins (2005)

I never saw it when it came out and probably everybody who wants to see has seen it. But I'll add my two cents anyhow. It is an ok movie. A little disjointed. It feels like 2 or 3 episodes of a TV series cobbled together to form a full motion picture.

The acting is fine (nothing spectacular). The production value is very high as you would expect. If you are bored one day and don't have anything to do it is worth a watch.

Captive State (2019)

Much better than expected.

Great twist at the end, exciting, good acting. It is definitely worth a watch. It is dark and I would not consider it an upbeat movie.

This movie takes a long time to get to the point and it is dumb. Usually I am fan of these types of movies. It has a good cast and decent acting, but super contrived script ruins it for me. Only watch as a last resort.

Ad Astra (2019)

It is well acted, very high production value, and beautiful cinematography. Everything else is absolute garbage. I wonder if the people who gave it such high praise actually watched the same movie I watched.

It is long and boring. Many of the plot points are ridiculous and have been mentioned in other reviews so I won't repeat them. The science is wrong and inconsistent. Somehow they magically control gravity and don't control gravity. They need some sort of anti-mater propulsion to get to the outer planets and they don't.

There are also bunch of loosely tied random scenes that don't advance the plot, don't provide background, or further the understanding of anything. I imagine those should have been cut out but were left in the final product. Maybe they belonged to an arch that was mostly cut out. Who knows. Save your time and money on this one.

The Predator (2018)

A predator fan but I can't.

Absolute garbage: offensive, boring and all over the place. Two stars because the acting wasn't terrible, but otherwise what a waste. So many stereotypes. The writers apparently wanted to cram as many as possible or maybe using the stereotypes as a unifying thread through an incomprehensible plot. The screenplay apparently was written by a few people or the person writing couldn't decide what kind of predator movie it was. One half is bad and the other half is just bolted on for the sake of extending the movie. On top of all this the action scenes are just boring. Don't waste your time.

Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Very watchable love story movie.

It is funny, well made and well acted. A typical love story movie. Boy meets girl, boy & girl fall in love, a boy and girl conflict, and you know the rest. You can probably download a template for this type of movie and make you own. Although a cookie cutter movie it is enjoyable especially if you like these types of movie. It is beautifully filmed, the actor do a great job and the filming locations are great. I have watched it twice and actually bought it. I see myself watch it as I do with other similar movies when I am bored and don't want to watch anything heavy.

Look Away (2018)

It isn't that I didn't understand it, it is just that it doesn't make any sense. Without giving away any spoilers most of the situations are contrived, the murders are telegraphed minutes before (so they are expected) and some of the murders don't even fit the plot. Also some of the soft-porn underage scenes made me cringe. Lead actress is not underage but she plays as such in the movie. Save your time and pass on this one.

Starfish (2018)

I wanted to hate this movie, but I couldn't.

It isn't a science fiction movie. It is a movie about losing somebody you love. For the most part I dislike concept movies. You can look at my other reviews and all the 1 star movies. I think concepts are great ideas for an art installation in a modern art museum and not to drive a move for 120 minutes. But this movie is a concept movie, it does have a story, a plot and an arch. It does try to say something. This movie is also incredibly beautiful. The lead actress is very pretty. Each scene is masterfully crafted. The music is also haunting and fun at times. The only actress a great job with what she has. So no fault there. It has flaws in that it didn't do the best job it could have done telling the story, but in the end I liked it. Not perfect, but a very good first attempt.

Terminal (I) (2018)

Not a terrible movie and with awesome twist.

It is a little convoluted and parts were not entirely clear, but it was entertaining and there is a twist that I didn't see coming. The pacing at times is a little un-even and you will find some plot holes along the way.

After Darkness (2014)

This is not a Science Fiction movie. It is just a movie about a very dysfunctional family that gets forced to spend an extended period of time together. Reminds me more of an old 1990s lifetime movie. Over dramatic scenes, cheesy and over dramatic music through out, a bit a screaming, random flashbacks, and a sprinkle of crying.

And the worse part is the plot, without giving away any spoilers the movie starts by proposing a very unlikely scenario. Even if you accept the first plot point (which I did) some of the other choices that this family decides to do seem absolutely ridiculous.

Unless extremely bored don't bother with this movie.

Crypto (I) (2019)

All over the place and slow.

Somehow this movie has enough story lines for 3 or 4 movies but also at times is very slow. As for the acting, it is not all bad as some of the reviews mention. There are some really good actors trying their best with really bad lines.

Overall I watched it and found it mildly entertaining. Did I understand what was going on with all the story lines? Absolutely not. Are there worse movies? Plenty!

Aniara (2018)

Not terrible but...

There are so many scenes that I could have done without and that didn't advance the plot (whatever little plot this movie had) and probably could have made this movie move faster: the obligatory art house movie cringe worthy sex scene, a couple of deaths, the techno dance scenes, and entire chapters that turn into nothing and add nothing.

If you are really bored one day or like these types of movies this is not that badly done. Others should stay away.

Loop (2016)

One of the best movies I have watched in 2019.

The writing and the acting is great. If you like science fiction or just a good love story this is a very good movie. Get ready for some mind bending twists. I would easily watch this movie again.

Flypaper (2011)

I liked this movie. Good acting, a decent scripts, and at times it made me laugh out loud. And who doesn't like Ashley Judd. I good movie to spend a couple of hours on a raining night, but probably not one you'll watch multiple times.

Domain (2016)

At times very slow but well acted.

Although I found some of the long dialog boring, the acting is above average. What kills this movie for me is that once you figure out the twist many of the things that are occurring or occurred do not make sense. They hope that the audience has amnesia. This is the only way this movie makes sense.

Knock Knock (I) (2015)

Slow, boring, bad acting and preposterous.

For the first 1/3 of the movie, at times I would just close my eyes and just listened to them talk. It isn't even remotely interesting talking. Just random stupid ideas of random people.

Then just when it can't seem it could get any worse it does. I am writing this review for my future self, just to remind myself not to watch it again.

Bangkok Dangerous (2008)

I don't even know how to explain it other than it is really really bad. Boring and long. Super bad acting. The only woman in the entire movie doesn't speak. An Elephant. This movie was so bad that I couldn't watch another movie for a few weeks. Stay way.

Logan Lucky (2017)

If you like a good crime caper this is a really good movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. It is funny, well written and well acted. If you like any of the Oceans movies this one is similar but lets glitzy. Quoting the movie it is a "Ocean 7-11".

Skyscraper (2018)

For what it is, it is well done.

It is a Rock movie. It has decent acting. A few bad guys. Explosions, jumps, some knee slapping jokes, and incredible feats of strength (most of them performed by the Rock). Entertaining, inclusive, and none offending action film. And you can probably guess the ending before it even starts.

Hostile (I) (2017)

93 Days (2016)

Good acting, based on true events and a decent story. The pacing was a little too slow for my liking and some scenes feel like a made-for-tv movie (the cheese music and the over dramatization).

Overall watchable if you know what you are getting into ahead of time.

High Life (2018)

I gave it 2 stars because some of the acting is not that bad. Otherwise this is a terrible movie. Slow, boring and pointless. Parts of the acting and some of the scenes are so brutally bad that they are funny.

For those who say this is a great movie because it is a great concept or idea. A concept is not an a movie. I movie requires more than just an idea. A movie requires something that the actors con go on, editing, directing and at least enough production value that it doesn't take away from the concept or idea. This movie has none of this.

I can smear excrements onto 300 pages of paper, throw on the floor and call it a novel. It won't be a good novel regardless of what I am trying to convey. This is not a good movie.

Don't waste your time.

Rememory (2017)

Big plot holes, un-even pacing and abandoned story lines.

There are some portions of this movie that are very good and the acting is good all around. Unfortunately there are some major plot holes and story lines that are completely dropped. I don't know if they were there in the original screen play, a product of bad editing or missed shots. I also felt it to be extremely slow at times for no good reason.

If you like science fiction and detective stories this is not a terrible movie.

The Poison Rose (2019)

This movie is terrible. Extremely boring. Mostly bad acting. Terrible script. Awful cinematography. Terrible scene music. Amateurish directing. Sadly the actual plot lines could have been made into a good movie. What a waste.
