Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)
Knives Out, what happennedduhh
Shameless cash grab...Loved the original Knives Out and was excited to see the next step. This sequel failed to show anything interesting. No major twists, nothing to make you think. They just cut the movie in the middle to spoil everything they had just set up. Big name actors aren't enough to save terrible writing and lazy resolution. This story had less layers than single ply toilet paper. *SPOILER ALERT* I mean come on, a southern accent twin who sets the Mona Lisa on fire??? Did a second grader who just watched Clue for the first time write this? Ruined a franchise by abandoning everything that made Knives Out great.
Sleeping with My Student (2019)
Wow just wow
Easily, hands down the worst acting I've ever seen in my entire life. It's a good thing the amazing storyline makes up for it. I mean just an amazingly unpredictable storyline. Honestly these writers deserve more than the Russo bros for endgame. Unparellel complexity and intense action-packed plot. So great!
Killer in Law (2018)
Amazing potential, terrible execution...
This movie had me glued to the TV for about an hour. All culminating in an intense scene with great acting and camera work. My favorite scene was when the grandma appears in the apartment and demands that the video of her freaking out with a knife must be deleted. And that scene was absolutely electric. The great move with the coffee to the face. And the amazing reaction with the slow trot up the stairs into the back stab. I was so excited to see how the video would affect the plot. And I could sense the grandma's incoming killing spree was gonna be epic. And then bang. The all important video that was shared is not even mentioned once. And grandma doesn't kill anyone else. I mean come on, what a waste of a set up. I thought granny was gonna go all out BA and drive the mom into the garage but nope just a bump on the knee. Good thing the amazing film work doesn't show a mark in the next scene. Great decision. I am so excited that they leave it open for a sequel but I really want to see grandma embrace her role as a serial killer and kill everyone in sight. This movie could've absolutely been special. I felt so connected to grandma in the beginning. And they spoiled it. Could've been the perfect movie. Almost had it guys almost had it.
