Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Loved it
I'm a huge fan of the original ghostbusters. I was leary about watching this movie, as I'm one who can't stand these remakes and sequels that are being made 20+ years after the original. I refused to see the ghostbusters movie with all the female leads (I'm betting Harold Ramis was turning in his grave). I really enjoyed this movie. It had a lot of references from the original, which I really liked. I think they chose the perfect actress to play Egon's granddaughter, she looks like him! I love Paul Rudd in anything, and I wasn't disappointed with him in this movie. I really loved how they incorporated Harold Ramis into the movie. I think he'd be proud of it. And the other original guys showing up was the cherry on top. Olivia Wilde was a great Gozer. Plus, Sigorney Weaver making a cameo in the end credits was fantastic.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Tried too hard.
I was not impressed with this film at all. It was like they were trying way too hard. It was very predictable and cliche. There were so many lines that were just straight up cringey.
I was about 7 years old when the original Jurassic Park came out, so it was neat to see the original characters. Jeff Goldblum is the best character in the movie. He's hilarious and reprises his role as Ian Malcom to a T.
Overall, disappointed. It definitely had potential, but again, it's like it was just thrown together too quickly, and it just lacks substance. They should have just stopped with Jurassic World honestly, at least I enjoyed that one.
Is It Cake? (2022)
LOVE this show
Great concept, the cakes that were made were insane! Host is fantastic. My kids (9, 11, 15) loved it as well. We had a great time watching it. Hope to see a season 2!!
Soul (2020)
Incredible
I finally sat down today and watched this with my 11 year old after she told me how good it was. And she was not wrong. Such a beautiful story, very clever. It had the funny parts for the kids, but the meaning of the story went so deep. Really makes you think. A+ Disney!!!
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022)
Cute, but...
This was a cute story, but the only original voice character was Buck. It would have been better if all the original voice characters were in it. My 9 year old loved it, which honestly is what really matters.
8-Bit Christmas (2021)
Fun
Just watched this with my kiddos (ages 9, 11, and 15), and they loved it. Some people are saying it's a Christmas Story reboot, which I would say is somewhat correct. It's a more updated version...instead of a red Ryder gun, it's centered around a Nintendo. I really enjoyed this movie, it's funny and the ending is very sweet. The cast is great. I think people who gave this a bad review are looking way too into it. I'm an 80's kid, so I enjoyed the nostalgia.
Smallfoot (2018)
Super cute
Adorable movie and sweet, simple story line. Don't mind watching it over and over (when the kiddos want to). The voice actors were chosen very well. Highly recommend.
The Grinch (2018)
Love
I love this is version of the grinch and so do my kids. It gives you a deeper look into why the grinch is the way he is. It's a very sweet story. Max, Fred, and the screaming goat are so cute.
The Blacklist (2013)
James Spader is incredible.
My husband started watching the blacklist on Netflix, I just happened to be sitting there when he turned it on and I quickly became infatuated. James Spader makes this show, he's just fantastic. His attitude, the way he carries himself, you can't help but just love him. The only reason I didn't give this show a 10/10 is for some of the same reason other reviews mention... Elizabeth Keen. While I do not think her acting is bad, I think her acting is quite good, her character just gets more and more annoying. Maybe that was the way it was supposed to be? For her to be an unlikable character? Red tries very hard to please her, but nothing good enough. Again, maybe that was the whole idea behind her character, plus Red is such a likable character that it makes her look worse. I try to think of it in terms of if I was in her position, how would I act? I really like all the other characters, from Cooper to Keen's partner, especially Mr. Kaplan :) . Anyway, I love the show, it's so clever. I will continue to watch. James Spader is AMAZING.
Surf's Up (2007)
Loved it!!!
Such a sweet movie with an amazing message behind it. I love the documentary style they used. The voice actors are great, I love Zooey Deschanel's voice. I am sad that it took me so long to watch it. Now it's one of my top favorite animated movies. It's nothing like any other of the penguin movies that have come out. And honestly, I do like it much more than happy feet.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
How does Disney do it??
I will admit, this was another film by Disney that I wasn't too excited to go see, based on the trailer. I took my daughter and oh my word, I was on the edge of tears when the movie ended. I was blown away. The story line is unique, the visuals are breathtaking. I don't understand how anyone could dislike this movie. Another A+ for Disney.
The Ridiculous 6 (2015)
Silly
My son made me watch this. At first, I was kinda like what in the world are we watching. The more the movie went on, the more and more I began to like it. It's just silly, slap-stick comedy. A typical Happy-Madison film. And it has all the usual players that Adam Sandler usually includes in his movies. Taylor Lautner is too funny, I was very impressed at how silly he was. Rob Schneider is as incredible as ever. There were many parts where I just sat there with my jaw dropped, saying "I can't believe they went there!", in regards to the jokes. Don't go into it with high expectations, thinking you're going to watch an Oscar nominated film. It's just a good time, a good escape from a lot of the tension and seriousness going on today.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002)
Very sweet
Very sweet, simple story line. My daughter loves the spirit riding free series, but I've never seen the first spirit movie. Definitely a breath of fresh air compared to what's being put out now a days for kids.
Labyrinth (1986)
My favorite movie of all time
I love this movie so so much. It came out when I was 1, so I obviously don't remember seeing it until probably around 6 or 7. I am a huge David Bowie fan and he is fantastic (even though he is the bad guy). The music is phenomenal, one of my favorite songs of all time is 'When the world falls down', the song when Sarah is having the vision after taking a bite of the tainted peach. If you love fantasy, this is for you! Jennifer Connolly is amazing, she's just so talented, especially for being only 15 or 16 at the time. Just an all around amazing movie. My kids love it too.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Great movie
I really liked Godzilla vs. Kong. It was super entertaining. A lot of the battle scenes you want to see between 2 giant monsters! I feel that it focuses more on the monsters than it does people, which I enjoyed. The CGI is beautiful. 100% recommend.
Grease 2 (1982)
One of my favorite movies
I love love love this movie so much. In all
Honesty, I may love it more than the original Grease. Not sure why it has a low rating?!? It's just so much fun. Brings back good memories!!
Coco (2017)
LOVE
I love love love this movie. When it first came out, I will honestly say I didn't care to see it (not really sure why). I didn't see it until it had been out a couple years. After watching it, I was mad at myself for not watching it sooner. It is such a precious story, and it is visually stunning. Definitely one of my favorite Disney movies of all time!
The Lion King (2019)
Disappointed....
I love the Disney remakes, and I love the original lion king, so naturally I was excited to see it. Unfortunately, all the reviews on here about the movie having no emotion, are 100% correct. It was very strange. This was the first remake that I left the theater without being just amazed and excited with what I had just watched (unlike Aladdin, which is OMG amazing). I always cry when Mufasa dies...but not when I watched this. It just felt empty. And I also agree that it seems like they used the movie to push Beyoncé, she's talented, but she's no Elton John. The CGI was incredible. And I'm so thankful James Earl Jones voiced Mufasa, it wouldn't be the same if someone else had done it. The two guys who voiced Simba (young and adult) did a great job. Seth Rogan was great as Pumba! I liked Timon too. Overall, I'm sad that I paid to see this at the theater. Just wait til you can rent it if you haven't seen it. In a nutshell, emotionless but visually stunning.
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019)
LOVE!!!
This was such a great movie! Very sweet story and action packed, and sooo funny. Can't recommend this enough!
