The Grudge (2004)
The Sixth Sense meets Memento
I admit, this movie starts off a little slowly and at first you aren't sure whether your watching a poorly attempted comedy or a horror movie. About ten minutes in though you get your answer and are glad you've donated your time and hard earned cash to see this movie. The acting can be a little underwhelming at times but the script, and style of the film more than make up for it. Like "The Sixth Sense" this movie does not rely on blood and gore to achieve it's scares, but instead uses more subtle psychological scares. The story-telling style reminds me of "Memento" and is very well done. You are unsure exactly what has occurred and why until the last few minutes of the movie. For anyone needs a good, thought-provoking scare I'd recommend this film.
Living the Life (2000)
Awful
I watched this movie strictly because of Jay Hernandez and wished I had the hour and a half of my life back. Jay is only in the movie a short time and hardly recognizable with the goatee they have him wearing. The entire plot of the movie is dumb, and unrealistic. I think that someone envisioned this movie as being a "Boyz in the Hood" or "Menace 2 Society" for girls but it doesn't even come close. The silly subplot about the dance routines only wastes more time and serves no purpose. If you're looking for a female coming of age story check out "Thirteen", a Jay Hernandez is hot movie "crazy/beautiful", a gangster movie, "Boyz in the Hood" even if you've already seen them before I promise you're better off than watching this clunker of a film.
Pearl Harbor (2001)
One of the best movies I have ever seen!
The acting was well done, the visual effects were awesome, but what I like most about this movie was the details that went into every aspect. Unlike most epic films (The Patriot, Gladiator, etc) there wasn't one second during this film that I was sitting there going, why did that happen, or why would they do that. Every character had was well defined and had the plot had no holes in it. An awesome, awesome film that everyone should see.
Ed Wood (1994)
Worst movie ever made!!!!
This movie was terrible. I had never left the movie theatre during a movie until this one. I'm sorry but any movie where the only funny/interesting part is a guy wrestling in the water with a broken mechanical octopus (you have to see to even somewhat understand) is not worth the money you spend on a ticket. The acting was bad, the script was silly, and the whole thing was basically a waste of my time and money.
