Termination Point (2007)
An afternoon Sci-Fi film
An afternoon film with a sci-fi feel to it. Unlike other afternoon films that are older these graphics are a little better, but they are not great as this is not a big budget production.
However, follow the storyline to see where it's going and what the outcome will be. Though it may not grip you, it is a decent enough movie to watch.
Maybe it will appeal more to Sci-Fi fans and dedicated films buffs; everyone else, I would say, may not like this film as much. Passable, yes, and a true afternoon movie and with a few twists and turns that I found interesting and should keep you interested long enough to see how the movie turns out.
Meteorites! (1998)
Town based scenario
One of those afternoon disaster films that is no way a big budget production, but relies on a story, a family, a town and the mayor of that town and what happens when meteorites threaten the whole region, focusing on this one town and what they have to deal with has the threats looms closer and closer. Throw corruption and criminals into the mix to add to the storyline; how will the town get out of the impending disaster? Not a big Hollywood production by far, but good enough to watch.
It's nice to see Tom Wopat and Roxanne Hart, but this is because it's a film from the 1990s. As I watched this film in 2015 (17 years on) it didn't seem out of date, which was a plus.
Crash Landing (2005)
Not that bad
This was a run-of-the-mill kidnapping on an aeroplane movie. Though not the best of them, it's not the worst. I didn't find it funny, for those that did it may have been laughable, but it certainly isn't up there of being that bad it's that laughable. Maybe it was also because their attempts at humour and story were not exactly on key or in the right place. At least the group of young people on the plane were young adults in their twenties rather than teenagers which could have been dead annoying.
As I said, not the best but not the worst. Worth watching at least once and you can decide for yourself.
Steel Tempest (2000)
Great this isn't
Sorry, but I am a film and history buff (particularly WWII) and I can tell you this film is up and down. On the up side, there is a story and all the equipment is authentic, but there are many missing things. I was surprised at the end as it said the Ardennes offensive. Really? It looked like Spring (even summer) not the middle of winter. Then everything was dragged out and spiralled downwards. Attempts at action was low-budget and if you don't mind that, then you will enjoy the film, but if you want a great war film, this is not one of them.
Don't believe me? Check out the ratings. Better yet, watch the film and judge for yourself.
I giganti della Tessaglia (1960)
May not be the worst, but don't expect the best.
I was expecting something from this film, but considering the channel it was on and the date made and where, I was expecting the worst.
The story tells you of the voyage of Jason and the Argonauts and the hunt for the Golden Fleece. Heavy on the drama, you get to follow all the principal characters.
Yes, this may be the style and genre of this particular film maker's style of films and you will either be okay with the dubbing or hate it, it probably loses something in the translation perhaps, and you may therefore feel this drama is that little bit worse. If you are a film enthusiast, you will notice this film looks dated and is NOT a big budget production. If you are a fan of these films and like the drama, even perhaps not the best drama, you may like this film; but it is not as good as many, many other productions made before or since, in this genre or even others that you can compare it too. You don't have to look too closely to see when the low budget kicks in and hence why this film is focused more on drama.
Worth watching once (if you are into films), but this is one I would not want to watch ever again and this will be the first online rating I will give that will be the lowest I have given to date, (and I have been keeping a film list (offline of my own) for exactly 30 years, with as many as 8,000+ films on that list)!
As stated by another reviewer, not the worst, but not the best either, far from it in fact. It would have got a worse review from me but it had a storyline, which probably saves it from being a total waste of time, shame it was let down in so many other ways, but you can judge for yourself. However, if you are expecting action, you will just get more drama instead.
Left to Die (2012)
What was not said about the film
I am not from Ecuador, so cannot speak about its history, country or people, but I can tell you about this film and (US) films and programmes in general. If you want to a story and to get a feel of what happened to the Chase family, then it's worth the watch. This is a dramatisation of a story that actually happened, it will not be completely accurate if you want accuracy, but you get a good sense of what happened.
Sandra Chase was in a prison and if you know anything about prisons, most prisons are not pleasant places to be in no MATTER what country they are in. All prisons have their own rules. The warden and guards rules and then the prisoners' rules. I don't think she was in a minimum security prison either. She was not in the West as well and it was in the 1990s, where South American countries were seriously trying to reform the judicial system. So prisons were probably no bed of roses. Prisons are not supposed to be holiday camps after all.
I wrote a whole long list of programmes and films to explain this going back to Birth of a Nation (1915) to World Trade Center (2006) as examples of how film makers manipulated things and many films in between (this information was removed as it may have contained spoilers and makes this review even longer); but basically stories can be added to or characters added for dramatic effect and even changed; even though historians, focus groups, action groups, individuals and more object to the unrealistic portrayals. This has always been done and always will be done most likely, by American TV & film makers as well as others. As for things like the prison scenes, they were tame in my opinion from most other film and TV shows.
So, back to the story, here is where a previous poster did no one any favours by not watching the film till the end. Some of it addressing what was said in another review. At the end of the film are two important pieces of information including a history changing one which is probably why this film was made in the first place! One shows you exactly what the film has done with one of the actors (and the real people), if you look out for it, dramatic licence used in this case and another about an important fact. But the film makers are not there to tell the finer details, they are there to tell a story! If you want a true pure film and story, you best never watch a film or TV series again (as they will all have things added or taken away), unless it's a history programme, documentary or the news. This film told a story and you get to see it. It's a drama after all and if nothing else, it should teach everyone, to really know who they are travelling with and always keep an eye on your luggage!
I suggest you watch the film for yourself and, to the end, and then make up your own mind!
The Waltons: The Fire Storm (1976)
One episode that is truly memorable
For those that grew up on watching 'The Waltons' and all the reruns, there was one episode that stood out for one reason and this is the one. For me, it was one scene, and I got to watch this episode again after many years of waiting. The story begins simply enough, throw in fear and ignorance and things spiral out of control. It shows how one person can affect the lives of everyone, even when you just try to tell something like the simple truth. The story from the beginning and all the way through - sets up the whole story right to the end without ever going over the top and I would have to say, it is probably the best episode of them all. (I even watched one scene several times - for me, it is that good).
