The Calling (2022)
Excellent
This is not your run of the mill police procedural. It was very different and I enjoyed everything about it. The writing, the acting and the production were all very well done. Based on novels by D. A. Mishani, the plots are well-developed and the characters are unique. Each story has twists and turns that you don't see coming at you.
I, for one, hope they keep these characters going with new stories and cases to solve. There are four books in the series, so there is more material to develop.
If you're weary of the angst-riddled detectives you usually see, give Avi a chance.
Don't listen to nay sayers. Give this a chance.
The Promise (1979)
Chick flick but not made for tv
Very good chick flick even with the bad nose and teeth for Kathleen Quinlan. I saw this movie at Radio City Music Hall when it opened there in March of 1979 (I believe it was St. Patrick's Day). Somewhat predictable all the way thru but the actors do a great job in making you care that it turns out right in the end.
It Had to Be You (1947)
Best effort for both stars
I remember this movie from tv when I was a kid. Terrific music, "My Ship Has Sails". I believe written by Kurt Weill. Would love to see this again and definitely own on VHS or DVD. Would put it right next to my copy of "One Touch of Venus". They don't make movies like this anymore unfortunately.
