The Beekeeper (2024)
Great romp
Wasn't expecting much from the negative reviews but it kept me tuned in from start to finish. I do agree the Veronica Parker character was poor and a little aggravating but overall the stunts were incredible and storyline unusual but in a good way. Jason statham will need to wind down the action soon enough but he mad John Wick look tame in this role. Always watchable but cannot maintain this momentum for much longer.
His name drew me to this and he was not short changing anyone. Have to admit I have seen many 10 rated movies which have been disappointing but this is honest entertainment not too demanding of any audience.
Love Rats (2022)
Must watch for people seeking love online.
This is compulsive viewing for anyone as it demonstrates the power of online dating at its worst. Binge viewing of incomprehensible situations people get themselves into with very costly outcomes. Truly shocking warning for everyone in the age of cyber crime and scammers.
Should be on main stream media. Seemingly decent people wanting to dip their toe in the water and relentlessly scammed of money despite friends and family having concerns about their behaviour and devotion to online, unknown and palpable sharks. Across the board methods of divesting vulnerable people from hard earned money.
Not an easy watch. If it seems too good to be true, it sometimes is.
Grace and Goliath (2018)
Uplifting
Brilliant story and wonderful backdrop of the province filmed in fine colour. Characters well portrayed and each delivering a great performance. If your feeling down this is a real warmer. No one dies and a few cry but the movie hangs on a tale of an ex child performer from USA visiting to make a movie in Belfast with a separate agenda to find his mother who had a dalliance with a US soldier years earlier. His father having passed recently gave him the idea to combine business with family curiosity and visit Belfast. The rest unfolds brilliantly and I wonder why more people haven't watched this.
