Wrestling Ernest Hemingway (1993)
Beautifully captures the heart and soul of two retired men.
Quiet little movie that really fits the "sleeper" description. I didn't remember hearing about the movie when it was released -- I picked it up at the video store based on the actors involved. While Richard Harris's character was fun, I never totally forgot that it was Richard Harris playing a role. (I had that same feeling when I saw him live in "Camelot" about 15 years ago.) On the other hand, Robert Duvall was, as typical, excellent, and most convincing. He became "Walter", and I had to stop and think, "Who is playing that role?" Shirley MacLaine once again does a fine job of being the cranky woman, and Sandra Bullock is sweet in this early role. Piper Laurie was fun, but her character wasn't developed as closely as I would have like.

Love having Broadway in my living room!
We were unable to get tickets for this show while in NYC on vacation this summer, so it was a pure delight to have live Broadway brought into our home! We can only hope for more productions of a similar nature!!
