Spider-Man (2002)
The Web-Slinger done Right
If you're wondering if "Spider-Man" lives up to all the pre-release hype.... It Does. The casting hits the mark, and the Story is Pure Spidey. My personal casting favorite is J.K. Simmons as J.Jonah Jamison; Dead-on performance. Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire are excellent. As a 30+ Year reader of the series of Spider-Man comics, it was nice to see that they were pretty much true to the storyline. A few thing were changed, I'm not going to do a "Spoiler", but they do not detract from the storyline. I especially liked the "little things" like, when MJ calls Peter "Tiger"... a Small point, but it shows how much attention was paid. An Enthusiastic endorsement from the Old Guy (Me), and from My 12 and 15 Year-old Sons as well. Now Starts the long wait for S-M II.
Quigley Down Under (1990)
A Western the way they should be made.
John Wayne would be right at home in this one...
Top Notch performances by Tom Sellick, Laura San Giacomo, and my absolute favorite bad-guy, Alan Rickman.
The Best scenery I've ever seen in a Western.
A Must-see.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
Lara Croft Lives
There is an inherent problem in bringing a video game to life. Trying to expand a 2-D world into 3-D is more challenging than You might think. You have to extrapolate an action game made for Playing, into a 120 min. (or so) feast for the eyes and senses that the Viewer has no control over whatsoever. Some people are bound to be disappointed. i wasn't. Angelina Jolie (as always) delivers as Lady Lara Croft. Played mostly straight, this film delivers, considering the latitude the filmmakers could have taken with this character. My 12 and 13 Year old Sons were a bit bored until the action sequences, I enjoyed the Whole film. Hopefully, If there is a sequel, Jolie will return. If She won't; Don't bother.
Flying Blind (1992)
The Original "Dharma & Greg" only better
My Summary says it all. The Shy Quiet reserved gut meets wild and free-spirited Girl, Hilarity ensues.
Hmmmm...Where have I seen that recently ?? :)
I really wish Tea would come back to the small screen in another comedy soon.
Hey, If Geena Davis can do it...
