Bangkok Dangerous (2000)
You see America, this is what you are missing.
Stunning, did I just watch a trailer? Nope! This movie confronts with reality at the most crucial moments, it shows hate, love, stupidity, calm, fury all in a pure form. I don't think I'm ever forget those eyes in that crucial scene.
This might just be their debut, but I'm a Pang brother lover already, they do everything even Tarantino doesn't have the guts to show, but knows it's true. If you like a fast, loud and real movie, this is the must-see film, else you can just wait a year or ten and then see it slimmed down in an American production like all good Asian films and then pretend it is all new.

Made to be controversial
A woman kills her boyfriend and the woman he's sleeping around with after they had sex which she recorded (original). After this she starts to get obsessed with sex and killing, and she gets more excited every time and is going mental while she seeks her own identity.
One of the strongest points of the movie are the extremely offending scenes and trust me they will offend you. The level of controversy is truly amazing.
The negative side of the story is that this movie is somewhat forced, it clearly was designed to be controversial and sometimes it's hard to go along with the story.
The filming is perfect, very dark and regularly uses her personal cam, which greatly adds to the realism of the film (like Blair Witch, only selected scenes). Also the director uses a scene where she drives in a car during the night every time her level of mental behaviour advances. The main character is very well played, Natali Broods shows to have no limits to her acting, she'll do anything and she'll do it well, truly amazing (she needs to work on her English). Also the dialogue is perfectly mixed, very strong humour at the cruelest moments.
This movie is most certainly worth your time. Go watch, I promise you never saw this before and you can't predict how the story will evolve.
The movie is definitely a work of art worth watching. However, experienced movie viewers only.
Gunshy (1998)
Unexpected Quality for a Story Often Told
Let me start off with the one sole minor point of the movie, the story is pathetic, it's standard and I saw it a hundred times before. The ending repaired it a bit, but it can't take away the damage. The rest... VERY VERY nice, the acting exceeds my most optimistic expectations, these actors (especially Michael Wincott) show they really can do more than low-budget movies. Michael Wincott even proofs to be a more than average cinema worth actor, his acting is really one of the strongest points this movie has to offer, but it has way more, well-directed, very well matching scenery (even better when you consider that this movie is low-budget, something it most certainly doesn't show) and a dialogue that makes you feel warm.
If you like gangster movies this is your thing. I didn't mind the familiar story and actually regret this movie skipping cinema and the movie has more than average qualities which will most certainly appeal to most movie viewers.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Kubrick indeed, but where's the rest.
A perfectly balanced movie, the music and the picture are almost like they never existed without each other. The movie is just like a theater play. If you leave out the content, you're probably watching one of the best movies made. And that happens to be the weak point, where's the story, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise try to learn during the movie what..., well what actually, well of course I now, but I don't want to spoil it. Let's just say that you would think Kubrick was capable of finding a more original concept. Now I understand this is his last movie and I mean no disrespect, but this movie is one of his lesser works, that is when you look at the content. If you'd like to watch a movie that makes you feel like you experience a dream, a piece of art and makes you feel like you're floating. Then this movie is definitely your cup of tea, if you're not looking for that, the movie is still worth watching but will be a bit poor on expectations.
