Eddie and the Cruisers (1983)
Influence
This movie may be junk-but it was good teenage junk. At age 15 HBO played it over and over. I got hooked! This movie took me to my first rock concert (John Cafferty and Beaver Brown), first poet who influenced my mind ,Rimbauld (sic), and of course crush on Michael Pare. Also was a very good book, but this movie and soundtrack still hold an important place in my collection, and BTW, my mothers as well.
Everyone says the music was bad yet it brought old styled rock back to the top 10! My mother loved it too. Interesting how opinions change.
Tin Man (1983)
A movie I never forgot
I saw this movie on Pay-per-View in 1984 and never forgot it. It really stuck with me. Perhaps it was that Tin Man presented itself exactly as it was. It didn't pull on my heartstrings needlessly, and it did make me feel for the main character without a big name or big budget. Timothy Bottoms was at his best in this movie, not over or underplaying the role of the deaf man.
I would recommend it for a Saturday afternoon.
