From Hell It Came (1957)
If you saw it in the movie theater, you know.....
Yes, by todays standards..Yada, Yada.. This one perhaps even by '50s standards was a bit low budget..
However, if you remember this one from when you were a kid, then you can still hold a place for it in your monster closet 8-) As a kid this thing scared me on the big screen, and I'm so glad I didn't know what I know today to spoil it for me. A very special time when we could go down town and watch a couple of these "monster" flicks on a Saturday.
Not to mention the fun time spent looking at all the stills out front and in the lobby !!
I still hold those original feelings inside and can enjoy watching these again, with the added enjoyment in the fact that I WANT to enjoy them and revisit my past.
Beakman's World (1992)
Even viewed as an adult it holds water and is entertaining
Okay, I'm certainly no "kid" and I'll admit that when I first came upon the show while channel surfing way back when, It's true, I was drawn to pause on the channel because Alanna Ubach was on the screen.. BUT, it didn't take more than the one episode to realize this was well done and had a very unique and fun way to present science facts to young people.
Okay, here's where I show my age.. it's not unlike the old Soupy Sales show in it's use of off stage and inside jokes. Nothing offensive for the kids, but things that an adult can find and enjoy.
It takes a lot of good writing and acting to serve up facts and figures in a way that might keep a person glued to the screen for the whole "class" but these people managed to do it in my opinion.
Everyone did a great job on this show and it should still be aired more often as it still has lots to give people of all ages 8-)
As a matter of fact, I'm off to see if it's on DVD now..
The Italian Job (1969)
One of the great `60s British movies
If you can stomach watching so many nice automobiles get wrecked, you will enjoy this film.
Quite a mixture of drama, comedy and whimsy. Lot's of fun !
Great location shots !
The High and the Mighty (1954)
Hope I live long enough to see it again !
Being from a family with lots of flyers, this movie grabbed me at an early age when I saw it on "Million Dollar Movie" where it was shown three times a day as the feature (no doubt it was only a few years old then). I do believe I watched it every time.
I watched the TV listings and then video stores from then on...and only found out within the past few years WHY I wasn't seeing it.
Seems that it was last shown on one of the premium cable channels sometime in the 80s ( so I'm told...)
Great film...it's not right that it is being with-held from public viewing. I hope to see it on the BIG screen one day when it returns to the world.
Why save it until it comes off as a "comedy" to whatever generation is around when it's re-released ???
Time is running out for it's true fans.
