The Last Fling (1987)
I would call it a comedy version of "The Graduate"
This is an excellent light comedy that should cheer one up even during the worst blues. I usually watch it when I am sad, and, guess what, it takes the blues away. Guaranteed! You will find several parallels to "The Graduate," such as the general plot line (a guy fighting for his love, who is about to get married to somebody else) and some scenes (like the one when Phil-John Ritter is watching Gloria-Connie Sellecca through the glass ceiling and shouting her name) that could have been meant as "Graduate" travesties, however, in good spirit and. There is no Mrs. Robinson, though.
In general: full of fun, sense of humor, good acting and excellent moral message. Recommended!
Przedstawienie Hamleta we wsi Glucha Dolna (1985)
An excellent stage adaptation of Ivo Bresan's play
This is an excellent Polish version of Ivo Bresan's play (also available in original "Predstava Hamleta u selu Mrdusa Donja" in IMDB when you do search with the author). This stage adaptation made for TV includes superb appearances of Janusz Gajos and Janusz Rewinski. However, in order to fully benefit from the spectacle one must not only understand Polish, but also know what life under early stage Eastern European communism was like. Some knowledge of Shakespeare's drama (which I am sure everybody possesses) will help observe how this classical motive is beautifully intertwined in the obscure, rural reality of communist Yugoslavia.
As for this particular version, Olga Lipinska deserves a great credit for directing the play. Janusz Gajos's delivers an acting performance of Oscar calibre. Unfortunately, a lot of foreign works never make it abroad. Or perhaps it is good; they simply would not be understood elsewhere.
