The Remains of the Day (1993)
Fascinating
Fascinating. Just what goes on and interesting characters. No real surprises though. Has some moral dilemmas that are very interesting. Following orders is the central theme. Everyone pretty much stays in character. All the character details seem carefully woven together.
October Sky (1999)
It was fun.
I love Joe Johnston's films. This is probably one of his most complex films with strong relationships and emotions. This is a very inspiring movie that I hope everyone will enjoy.
The Hunley (1999)
amazing!
Really, one of the best movies EVER made for television. It's on my top ten favorites. Possibly my all time favorite. There were just so many drawing points. Performances are powerful. Sets are intriguing. The story is unique, and the direction sucks you into the movie.
It's a tragedy and a triumph. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)
I donno. I thought it was fine.
I donno. I thought it was fine. A little too frantic. Too much shock value with the ripping out the heart and dancing with a corpse and sexual references. I don't know WHAT to call Robert De Niro's performance...and Kenneth Branagh was too bland. I read the script later and realized he ruined the meaning behind the dialogue. Great sets. Great costumes. A valiant effort.
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993)
I get it. I just don't like it.
I understand the jokes, insights, and characterization....I just don't see the point of spending a dollar to see it or whatever you paid. I really don't understand why some top stars decided this was worth several months of their time. If you figure it out, please let me know...but only if you've already seen it.
