State of Grace (2001–2004)
A Sweet Postcard from a Simpler Time
22 July 2002
State of Grace reminds us of a time that was simpler, more naïve, a time when family was important. Is this show `breakthrough' television? No, it's not, unless telling a story that doesn't involve idiot parents, sex-craved children and their drug infested friends, or neighbors from another planet can be considered `breakthrough.' We are given a small slice in the lives of two very different families dealing with the small episodes that happen to families on a daily basis. As different as these two families are, they have one thing in common: love. Although the show centers on Hanna and Grace, there is wonderful ensemble playing displayed and the scripts not only let us see the story of these people, but we also see their hearts. With all the `junk' that's available on television these days, `State of Grace' is an island, a safe haven where we can actually care about and learn from the people we're watching. This 60 minute Monday Night Island is possibly my favorite current show (along with `Doc'). `State of Grace' is a sweet postcard that reminds us of a much simpler and naive time.

Jason of Star Command (1978–1981)
Lots of special effects fun!
8 June 2000
I remember watching this Saturday morning kids show and being impressed with the special effects. Being a science fiction fan, any show about space, & stuff like, that I'd watch. This show had quite a large budget for being a Saturday morning "kids" show. I loved the asteroid that was "Star Command" and all the space ships. I was in my late 20's when this show aired, not really a kid, but I was when I watched. Wish I could find it again!!

Lost in Space (1965–1968)
Super-Sci-Fi-Fluff-and-Fun!
5 March 1999
What can you say about a show where a scientist is constantly out-smarted by a robot that does a lot of waving about of its arms! Goofy characters, goofy villains, goofy planets, and goofy situations. And a great theme song (by a young Johnny Williams)! OK boys and girls, put away your thinking caps and join us for an hour of pure super-sci-fi-fluff-and-fun!

It has now become tradition in my home that when ever we rent a video and the FBI warning comes up, I all but run around the room waving my arms and shouting, "Warning Will Robinson!"

Thanks Robot!

Space Precinct (1994–1995)
I'd set my alarm for it!
18 February 1999
By the time I found out about his show, it was very hard to find. It would be broadcast somewhere in the wee hours of the night (around 2 to 5 am). I would check the TV Guide, set my alarm, and go to bed hoping some infomercial wouldn't bump it. Was this a great series? No. What it finely scripted? No. I could answer "No" to a lot more questions... but... I loved this show!! It was goofy & corny, but there was a charm about it, a "heart" that what some might call "better" shows lacked. The aliens and sets were fun and it even had a family in it! And the cherry on top of this sci-fi-sundae; there were all of those great Gerry Anderson models... COOL!!! It was a great way to spend a middle-of-the-night-half-hour! Sci-Fi Channel: GET IT!!!! (please?)

Eraserhead (1977)
A wide-awake nightmare.
11 February 1999
I dreamed I dreamed a dream, only to awake and find I was still dreaming.

From the beginning, this movie was hard to watch, until I just let it happen. I stopped thinking, and entered into the nightmare.

This film is not for everyone, but if anyone has seen a David Lynch movie and liked it, should see this.
