Camp Death III in 2D! (2018)

This was a comedy?

As someone who enjoys spoofs and stupid comedies (Airplane, Airplane 2, Top Secret, Scary Movie) I found myself so disappointed with this movie. It's like someone said "I want to make a funny movie" except they have no sense of what comedy actually is. Apparently according to the makers of this film the essence of funny is jerky body movements, speeding up the film, making nonsense noises as you talk and being loud. There is nothing here to laugh at. I walked into this movie without knowing anything about it, watched it all the way through hoping it would make me laugh at least once, and being terribly disappointed at the waste of time it ultimately was. Don't watch this, don't give the film wasters that made it any incentive to every make another.

Superman III (1983)

Another underrated sequel

This is another example of how the third movie in a series is often the best but is over looked by so many. It follows the same pattern as movies like Star Trek III, Nightmare on Elm Street III, and Rocky III. Although the third installment of a series is often the best, it is most times the least shown and the most hated by many people.

Richard Pryor gave a classic performance as the unemployed bum turned computer whiz. Although many critics seem to hate much of his work, I don't think he made a single bad movie until Another You, which was a great Disappointment. His antics make me laugh over and over no matter how many times I watch him.

I do think that the scenes involving the chemical plant fire were unnecessary. Do we really need that much of a reminder of what a super hero he is? But other than that it was a spectacular film.

It was a breath of fresh air to see Clark's love interests move beyond the tired old path of Lois Lane, and although Lex Luthor is your classic Bad Guy, it would be unbearably monotonous for him to be involved in EVERY attempt to take over the world.

All in all I give it a 9 star, minus one for the unnecessary scenes that made some of the beginning drag more than needed.

Battlefield Earth (2000)

A movie that is light-years behind expectation

I am the kind of person who looks at the critic's reviews of a movie and disagrees with everything they say, but this movie is a BIG exception. Although this movie may have some elements to it that would make a satisfactory movie to the average viewer, it is a slap in the face to anyone who is a fan of Hubbard's work. The only similarity to the book is a very broad generalization of the plot and the character's names. There are so many things wrong with the movie that I don't have the room to list them here. I understand that the book was too long to make a movie out of the entire novel, but even only going as far into the story as it did left out too much to make this a worthwhile venture. Considering the fact that Travolta is a Scientologist, I am surprised he wished to insult Hubbard's memory with this complete waste of time and money.

Another National Lampoons Hit

This is another success in the long line of National Lampoon comedies. I don't understand why it didn't go to the theaters, because it was a great addition to the name National Lampoon. It has some of the same plot elements that made "Analyze This" a success. The thought of a mob boss seeking psychiatric help is absurd enough, but the way he and the analyst go through the psycho-analytical process will keep you in stitches.

Jury Duty (1995)

Another success for Shore

This movie was another in a long line of hilarious comedy successes for Pauly Shore. One can't help but laugh at the antics of this 12 Angry Men spinoff. The comedy of the movie was added to by the satirical look at the American Justice system which is itself one big joke to be laughed at. I recommend this movie highly to anyone with a sense of humor.

Best of the Best 3: No Turning Back (1995)

Overworked plot, but good lesson.

This was a movie that had an overused plot. The martial arts expert who comes in and single handedly saves a town. If the movie were to be rated just by the plot, I would give it a 1, but I do believe that a movie is more than just the surface appearance. This movie also had a strong anti-racism message behind it. It showed the affects of racism and the sheer hate and terror that go with it. Watching it is enough to make you want to do something about the problem of racism yourself. So on moral grounds, I would give this movie a 10. However, the plot was inconsistent at times, the acting was cheesy, and this type of movie has been made so many times that you get tired of just hearing about it. Overall, I can only give this movie a 4.

12 Monkeys (1995)

an unexpected failure

This movie is hardly the fantastic film that many people make it out to be. The story line in worn out, the constant changes in time and location only add to the confusion, characters are undeveloped, and the movie just overall falls flat of my expectations. Even though I consider Bruce Willis a good actor, even he was unable to raise this movie above the level of a bad hack job.
