Alien Hunter (2003)
10/10
A lot better than you would expect.
9 December 2005
Cheers! Surprisingly decent. A lot better than I expected from the title. Familiar science fiction themes from other movies rehashed, but handled well. I like the twists. I won't ruin the movie for you by discussing them. Decent performances from most of the actors and some good cgi. If your a science fiction fan than it is entertaining enough to sit through unlike a lot of stuff out there. Note - check out the appearance by Kier Dullea (2001 Space Odyssey) - Interesting choice. Bravo. J. Spader is good in it as expected. His character is similar to his Stargate character. If you are a fan of that then you should check this out as well. This film has a much darker tone to it reminiscent to The Thing.

Alien Hunter (2003)

It kept me going I was surprisingly drawn in.

I think a lot of the movies on the SciFi channel are complete rubbish so I was not expecting much but I was pleasently surprised. I am not the biggest scifi fan in the world but thought the story and the acting kept me interested. I have seen John Lynch's work before and really like him. He was equally as good in this picture. Spader was good too. It looked great, the effects were nice, not to over the top - believable. I kept finding myself getting more and more drawn in until I was hit with a commercial....too bad for that. I will wait for the dvd to watch it again. I also wanted to see the widescreen version. I don't know why it was broadcast in tv format. It felt like a big movie for tv. It was clearly inspired from other famous science fiction pictures but definetly stands on its own. Don't be turned off by it's blody title, this movie is good!

Rave (2000)
10/10
This was a very moving film that I could relate to.
10 July 2002
Rave is an honest portrayal of the havoc wreaked by the innocence of youth, peer pressure, and the overwhelming demands of family life.

Director Krauss takes great care in neither glamourizing the rave culture nor painting the picture that his lead characters are without human foibles. In fact, like characters from a shakespearean play, the players of Rave are simplistically drawn, like pawns, into fate's ongoing game of tragedy.

I enjoyed this film. The characters really work well. It is one of the best independent films I have seen lately.
