Patch Adams (1998)
Good variation on an old plot line
More of Robin Williams. Patch Adams is an entertaining film and is good for R.W. fans. Delineation between good guys and bad guys is as obvious as the characters in a John Wayne movie. The Dean at the medical school Patch attends who is cast as the antagonist is so blatantly bad that I would have expected him to wear a black hat, droopy black moustache and laugh with a hearty "Nya, ah, aaahhhh!". I did laugh and cry as the other users have commented, but I don't believe that this film is any major contribution to film history. I'm glad I saw it--but I will not buy it to add to my video collection.
The Lair of the White Worm (1988)
Weird.
Weird movie. Amanda Donohoe is hot as usual. Ken Russell has loaded this movie with all his weird symbolisms. The only reason I can give to watch it more than once, is to ogle Amanda. Keep your finger on the FF button.
The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962)
Cool Schlock
This picture is just plain brainless fun. It's like playing solitaire or Tetris on the computer. I would actually rent this movie if I could find it. The effects are actually pretty good considering the era and the obviously low budget.
Mighty Joe Young (1949)
Big Monkey is a "Good Guy"
I have seen this picture multiple times and it always is a pleasant way to spend time. This is the second (as far as I know) big monkey movie that portrayed the monkey as a "Good Guy". The story is nice and the effects were good for 1949. I am very much looking forward to the updated version. I hope they stick with the original story.
How to Murder a Rich Uncle (1957)
Excellent black comedy.
It has been years since I saw this film, but it has left some vivid memories.
