Alert Today - Alive Tomorrow (1956)
Not Quite as Catchy as Duck and Cover but...
Sandwiched in between The Omega Man and whatever comes next on TMC's apocalypse theme. I remember those days... tornado drills, fire drills and nuclear attack drills where we'd all go down to the boiler room with all the asbestos. Was the 1950's really that idillic? What do those neighborhoods look like today? How much are those houses going to now? Too bad about the whole-world-could-end-any-moment thing. We had a CD metal sign on the porch of my house growing up... I've got it now in our basement ... just checked, they're going for $75 on eBay. I don't know what my mother was going do in case of all out thermonuclear war. We had a basement but no secret knock (that I know of) and no rifle to shoot our neighbors who'd be trying to get in... and I really liked all my neighbors... come to think about it, not doing that is kinda the point of this film.
No Time to Die (2021)
Sucked
Its easily apparent the James Bond run is over. Stop making these. Crap like this is taking away from the early ones. So to have any legacy left you just have to stop.
Phil of the Future (2004)
Funny.
This is early in the era my kids had Disney on all the time and this is one of a few I thought were funny... not that I'd put it on and watch it on Disney+ today though. I just remember it being safe fun.
Law & Order: Impossible Dream (2022)
Maybe the problem is the expectation is so high.
Biggest Law & Order fan here so I say this with fondness. I'm nervous about the return of this show. First, no social commentary. Second, I'm not invested in the characters yet so the plots really matter. If you're having trouble with plot lines don't look at the headlines but maybe get the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books and work in a murder or watch some Murder She Wrote episodes to get in the zone. Something.
Barbie in the Nutcracker (2001)
The kids watch it all the time
In fact, they're watching it in the other room right now. My 19 mo son really likes it (better than his twin sister). And my 7 yo daughter likes it too. I've seen it...well, probably more times than I'd like to admit, and like most of these kids shows, i.e. Disney sing-a-longs, Veggie Tales, ect., they tend to grow on you... I find myself singing some of the songs... As for this one...if you think it's going to be the story you'd see at the ballet, you'd be wrong, but the music you'd go to the ballet for is the same and it's timeless. It's sweet and probably geared towards girls. Get it for your 18 mo - 7 year old kids, they'll like it.
