Absolutely Beautiful
4 September 2021
Once in a while, a movie comes out that is so perfectly crafted that it blows my socks off. This is one of those. A beautiful, meaningful script laced with moments of true hilarity and filled with rich, interesting characters. A director that gets wonderful, nuanced performances from the excellent actors, and who makes perfect shot choices (with the help of a very talented cinematographer). An editor who puts it seamlessly together, heightening the action and adding lots of extra humor with brilliant timing and great cutaways. And the special effects... I have not seen a better monster movie for effects. Unbelievable. To top it off, the sound is clear and crisp, could not have been improved upon. This is one finely crafted film, and to top it off, it left me feeling so happy. Such sweet, universal messages of love and courage. A true delight.

A Movie to Fall in Love With
28 July 2005
This movie is about people trying to connect with each other, told in a very sweet, original way. It is quirky, beautiful, honest, and hilarious. The film follows the lives and dreams of many truly memorable characters, from the adorable and fascinating children to the adults with all their idiosyncrasies. I couldn't stop thinking about it the day after I saw it. I kept reliving the scenes in my head, and smiling.

I am so happy to have discovered Miranda July. Not only did she write, direct, and star in this film... she is also a performance artist, has released music CDs, and is planning on releasing a book of short stories next.

I'd recommend watching the trailer if you're curious. It definitely gives you a flavor of the film. If you like it, go see the movie, and you may fall in love, too.

After you see it, check out the movie website (http://www.meandyoumovie.com/) and Miranda's website (http://www.mirandajuly.com/) for more great stuff.

A Classic! It'll leave you happy!
19 November 2004
I recently saw this movie at a screening in Los Angeles and was very pleasantly surprised. It's the most refreshing movie I've seen in a long time. It was filled with incredibly original, sweet silliness.

It's basically about a repo man and his son getting accidentally involved in a crazy road-trip caper. Eric Fleming was so natural in the lead. I can't believe he was also the writer and director! The relationship between him and his son (who is now a regular on ER) was heart-warming and hilarious. The entire cast was great, from Jim the baseball player to Robert Culp as the partner. Refreshing is definitely the word. I'm still laughing over the character Bigger.

Hopefully this will get released soon so my friends can see it... and so I can see it again.

It appears that this is Mr. Fleming's first feature. Great stuff. Looking forward to the next one!
