Moulin Rouge! (2001)
I rather Enjoyed it
I went to this movie expecting to enjoy it. I generally enjoy musicals and I was blown away with this one!! Ewen McGregor can sing, I mean I was amazed at how much I enjoyed his voice. The colours and songs and everything. I can't put into words what I feel for this movie. Much like ,"Dancer in the Dark," I will definately be buying this when it comes out on DVD as I have to own this masterpiece!! The use of modern songs in the old setting of 1899 Paris oddly worked for me. I was thrown off at first when McGregor started singing, "The hills are alive with the sound of Music," but then I got interested. By the time "Like a Virgin," hit I was amazed, that song alone makes me want to go see the movie again. The last song in the movie is outright amazing!! Honestly I can't say enough about this movie! I want it to win awards just so more people will feel they have to go see it!
Gli indifferenti (1964)
A good movie overall
I got this rare Italian/American movie from a friend and I wasn't expecting much but really it was a good movie. Its the story of a family who is in financial troubles and the man they think that is going to help them, well isn't!! He wants the property and the house for himself. The mother and daughter are both sleeping with him and the son wants to kill him and that all adds together to make a great story! The Only cast member which I am going to make mention of is Shelley Winters, though not a good role for her she really shows her acting ability in this movie and I love it. So over all I think this movie is worth watching if you can find it, but be warned the soundtrack is not in sync with the film so when they speak on screen it's already a second past and it is a little distracting.
Fahrenheit 451 (1966)
One of the greatest Movies I have ever seen
I am young and I have never read the book or seen the movie until this weekend, and take my advice please go out and rent it. This movie not only makes you wonder what's going to happen but it also has many secret messages which I still can't figure out. i don't think you need to read the book to be able to follow the story of the movie, as long as you read the back of the video cover you will be fine. I give this movie 10 out of 10 and it is on my list of the 100 greatest movies.
Airport '77 (1977)
A great movie for those who love the genre
I love this movie and it stands up there with The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno and all the other greats of the Disaster Movie genre. The story is so original and who would think that a plane would go down in the Bermuda Triangle?? the cast does its best with the script but that is way over looked because the effects as in all Disaster Movies over take the actors and the script. 9 out of 10
Airport 1975 (1974)
Up there with the best of the Disaster Movies
AIRPORT 1975 not only has a great cast and special effects it has a reputation that has lasted the 25 years since its release. I first heard of this movie when I first watched the original Airport and everyone said great things about it and I would have to agree. Karen Black ,though her eyes throw you off, gives a great performance as the stewardess who has to fly the plane after the flight crew is killed or hurt by a small plane which crashes into the plane. Charlton Heston, George Kennedy and the rest of the cast are great and keep this movie going from the word GO! I also love the score which has to be one of my favorites!! 10 out of 10
The Cassandra Crossing (1976)
One of the Best Disaster Movies Ever
I have been wanting to see this movie for months. Ever since I heard about it, I have gone to every length to see it and finally it came on TV. This movie has everything a GOOD disaster Movies needs. 1) A good plot. 2) A good cast or All-star cast. 3) An annoying kid. 4) A song sung by a pretty lady. 5) Action and Death. The Cassandra Crossing is a must see for everyone who loves the genre and even for people who don't. 10 out of 10
Gray Lady Down (1978)
A Really Good Movie
This movie has non-stop action right from the first. The suspense and action combined keep you at the edge of your seat the whole movie. Charlton Heston is excellent as always and so is the rest of the cast. All action scenes are believable. This movie has everything going for it, and is worth the money to rent.
Juggernaut (1974)
Like A very long TV movie
When I first heard of this movie my parents said oh its great (maybe in 1974) and when I put it in my VCR I had an open mind but just the first few minutes and then the rest of the movie seemed like a very long TV movie. I mean i could tell where they would put the commercials. The editing sucks hard and I just would caution everyone before they see this to watch it with an opened mind because like me most wont like it.
Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
The Best Musical Ever
I'm only 14 and when I first saw Jesus Christ Superstar I thought, "gee this is weird." But since then I have come to love this enjoyable and entertaining ROCK OPERA. Ted Neely is superb and so is Carl Anderson. Yvonne Elliman is at her best in this film. I have never seen the staged version but hope it is just as good as the film. I have watched this movie so many times i can sing along with it without missing a single word. I just Love it.
The Towering Inferno (1974)
The Best and the Biggest Disaster Movie
The Towering Inferno is the Biggest of the all-star Disaster Movies. Concieved by "The King of Disaster" Irwin Allen this movie ranks with the best of its era. It is the opening ceremony of the tallest building in the world "The Glass Tower," When everyone is up on the top floor partying a fire breaks out in a storage room on the 85th floor. As the fire spreads up the building the people on the top floor must realise that they might die or live. This is an Action packed movie with some of the best special effects. The Actors are at their best. This is the Best Disaster Movie of all time and always will be.
The Poseidon Adventure (1972)
The Best Movie Ever
This is the best of the Disaster genre. I own this movie and watch it at least twice a month. The movie tells the tale of a group of people that have survived the turning over of their ocean liner. It shows you their trek through the ship. The thing I like about this movie is that it lets you get to know all the characters and then BANG they die one by one untill there are only a few left when the movie ends. This is a MUST see for all who love action, adventure, love and DISASTER.
