More comical than the first
8 June 1999
Unlike the original, Jewel of the Nile is packed with more jokes and slapstick than it can handle. It is still enjoyable as an adventure movie, although the romance kind of a fifth wheel just filling in a few empty minutes of screentime. Probably the best way to enjoy the movie is to watch Romancing the Stone just before watching it, and then you'd probably understand it better and wouldn't think it's worthless.

One of the original romantic movies.
8 June 1999
I am a child of the 90s who grew up on 80s movies, and Romancing the Stone holds a special place in my heart as do many other 80 movies. Watching it again recently, it seems filled with cliches that we have definitely tired of, but it is a classic romantic movie in its own sense and is best enjoyed with an open mind. The thrills that made it an infamous classic are still enjoyable, but for the modern viewer, needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

As any other animated remake...
1 June 1999
I suppose what they had in mind when they remade 'The King and I' was to keep the music alive, while killing off the essence of the original musical. Truthfully, the best way to enjoy this movie is if you've never seen the original 'The King and I'.

Typical animated sequel
5 March 1999
As most animated sequels, one cannot expect much from the plotline, the music, or the animation. But, even with this in mind, I found Pocahontas 2, although having its moments, was quite disappointing, and a major contradiction to the original feature film. Most of the characters were two dimensional, and the depth and feeling of the first film was non-existent. The movie's short length also prevented the movie from going any further and explaining all the abrupt changes in character, especially the romance between Pocahontas and John Smith, as well as between Pocahontas and John Rolfe. For anyone who liked the original film, the sequel could be hazardous to your health.
