Terre humaine (1978)
Excellent television serial 1978-1984
This excellent television serial presents the adventures of the Jaquemin family, which is made up of Léandre Jaquemin who is called "Pépère", his son Antoine, his wife Jeanne and their 8 children and their families. They live on a farm which they cultivate in a modern way in the village of Ste-Marie-des-Anges, near Joliette. The serial lasted 6 seasons, for a total of 229 episodes. Terre Humaine introduced a pleasant and simple history and characters more than attaching. The acting was great and many great québécois actors were involved, notably Jean Duceppe (Pepère), Marjolaine Hébert (Jeanne) and Guy Provost (Antoine) as the main characters.
Romance (1999)
I hated that movie
Life is wonderful, love is the essence of life and sex is one of the most beautiful ways to express love. Then why would someone want to consider sex as a "tool of power", a sort of weapon between individuals to prove oneself to oneself? That sad story of a woman with a fixation on sex, on the mechanics and the organs of sex, not even its beauty, is a loss of time and money. Pouah! And don't even think that this movie is sexy, it is not. It's sad. Very sad.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Really, the best movie of the summer
Ah! To see a movie where the plot is superbly constructed, the thrills are "honest" and, more than anything, the acting is excellent. Bruce Willis is proving again that he can be at the top quality level and that young boy is simply excellent. Remember his name and follow his career, he'll go far. He has that emotional quality that only great actors can achieve. An excellent evening, a wonderful movie.
Fire (1996)
A beautiful love story
For a moment, let's put aside the cultural aspects of this movie, even if it is a very important side of it, and let's look at the simple fact that this is a very nice love story. Two individuals find themselves in a difficult situation, caused by two selfish husbands. They have to live through their sad days without any ray of hope. If each one of these two women had been alone, imagine what kind of life each one would have had to accept. They found each other and they fell in love. That this love was against all the social, religious and cultural laws of their environment is almost irrelevant. They loved each other, found relief in each other, that was sufficient. The reaction of the individuals around them is but a small fact that they have to accept, suffer even, and then they can go on with their lives, their life. Very nice.
Cría cuervos (1976)
Wonderful childhood memories
What a wonderful movie! Saura has succeeded showing us the inside of childhood. One has to be a great artist to be able to reflect the true feelings of a child thrown in the turmoil of life. Little Ana's eyes are a world of suffering, of understanding, of emotions. This child has seen death, she has known it directly and she has no fear. Either to experience it or to give it or to see it. Thank you Mr Saura, after 23 years, you still give us these great moments of life.
