Feels interesting but
prpatanjali15 May 2021
Last Hour is a nice concept for viewers who want supernatural thriller. The plot and place everything is unique and seems interesting but it's spoiled by cliched screenplay, terrible acting and clueless direction.

Interesting and something new!!
niksnel14 May 2021
I watched a couple of episodes and seems very fresh content. Worth watching. The actors seem to act well after their comeback. First Chandrachur Singh in Aarya and now Sanjay Kapoor in this!

**Updated on 18th May Completed the series and now will be eagerly waiting for the second season. It ended on a very interesting note. All the actors did justice to their roles. Especially Dev! If you like movies like inception/shutter island, then this is it. Indian made sci fi thriller series.. A big Thumps up👍🏻

Good concept and story line but direction and screenplay are let down
sndpkumar18 May 2021
The concept is too good and the story was nice. But apart from that the direction , acting , dialogue delivery everything looks substandard more like low budget film.

With better direction it would have been a great series.

Has India found it's first Sci-Fi thriller like inception or tenet?
anuragvermain15 May 2021
If you're a fan of sci fi movies like inception or tenet, then last hour is worth watching. Let's start from the music, I bet you will fell in love with it's music score, it's exotic. Screenplay and Direction will not allow you to leave your screen for a second. It's plot will take you to the ride of full power pack of mind bending entertainment. It has tenet like time reverse, inception like dream state conversation with multiple layers and Indian touch of spiritual belief on spirits and gods. It has thrill, drama, emotion, romance, mountains and all in the North Eastern Indian flavor. Must watch. To mention: it's not Bollywood type hence, not for everyone.

A unique concept, very different from the shows and movies made in India.
Perspicuity13 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
WHAT'S GOOD :

1. Presence of actors that are actually from the north eastern states of India. Once upon a time a movie based on boxing champion Mary Kom, who hails from Manipur, was made and Priyanka Chopra, who looks nothing like Mary Kom, was cast to play the lead role. Thankfully the creators of this show decided to do the sensible thing and gave opportunities to actors that actually look like the characters they are playing. It is extremely important to have representation from the states that are cut off from us in every possible way. If more films or shows are made in the north east, or more actors from those states are given opportunities in Bollywood films, then you never know what it might do for the states that have faced neglect and discrimination for a very long period of time. Inclusiveness will reduce the friction that exists between us. More publicity and exposure will allow their regional film industry to grow, and give them the freedom to make the kind of movies they always wanted to make. There was a time when Indian films just meant Hindi cinema, but today Tamil and Telugu films are extremely popular and are constantly producing blockbuster films, Malayalam films have caught everyone's attention with their unique, experimental and out of the box storylines and Kannada film industry has given us KGF. If the north eastern states are given enough encouragement, you never know they too might soon come up with their own 'Baahubali'.

2. The show has a fresh storyline. I had never heard about 'Jhakri's and Shamanism, so it was quite a learning experience to know about them and see what they do, how they do. The supernatural element of the show is very interesting and it does remind you of Inception (2010) and Tenet (2020), not in terms of quality or execution but in terms of the similarity between the central plot of the movies and this show.

3. The acting was not great, but that should not deter anyone from watching the show. We don't know the kind of acting schools that are there in the north eastern states, or if there are any at all. All actors look for opportunities, if they perform....well and good, if they don't....then it becomes an experience for them, now they know what not to do. But if they are never given a chance, then how can anyone expect them to learn, or improve their craft, or hone their acting skills ? Among all the actors and actresses from the north east, Tenzein Choden stood out for me. She played the role of Doma in the show and was really trying hard to portray her character with full conviction. Tenzein has a very expressive face and I can easily say that as an actress she holds a lot of promise. It was quite surprising to see Dev not showing any interest in her, considering how gorgeous she was.

4. All the Hindi-speaking actors were pretty decent, with Shahana Goswami being the standout performer. Unlike Raveena Tandon in Aranyak, she does not play a parallel lead, something I was hoping for, but regardless she was quite strong in every scene of hers. The Last Hour introduces Shailee Krishen, who plays Pari, and for a debutant she did really well. Shailee's face has a striking resemblance to Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee, but both of them have no connection to each other at all. I hope Shahana Goswami gets to play a much bigger role in the next season.

5. The location is extremely beautiful. The mountains and forests of Sikkim provided the right amount of atmospherics required for a mystery show like this. I feel more shows and movies should be made with a backdrop like this. Also, why is it necessary to film in Switzerland and Russia, when we have so much beauty in our own country ? Doing this would also help in the development of those regions.

WHAT'S NOT SO GOOD :

1. There is a lot of repetition in the show. In every episode, someone dies and then we know what's going to happen, because the same routine is followed every single time. That could have been completely avoided or they could have shown the flashback scenes with a little more creativity.

2. Pacing is definitely an issue with the show. It's not a story that should have taken eight episodes to reach its conclusion.

3. Some questions remain unanswered. Why were Doma's father and Dev brother killed by the policemen? The series never went back to that subplot. How is it that Pari has the special power of experiencing things before they take place ?

4. The story needed a little more development. They had the fantastic idea of Jhakri's, Shamanism, time travel, a girl who could see ghosts from the other side. But the creators just couldn't go beyond Yama Nadu chasing Dev, and the romance between Dev and Pari. I wish they had added more layers and subplots to the story, doing that would also have justified the show's length, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

In conclusion, this show definitely deserves to be watched because it offers something very different from what we are used to watching. If there is a second season in the making, then the creators of the show should definitely take feedback from the audience, because that is the only way to improve. Also, if possible the producers should conduct acting workshops before filming begins, doing that would really help actors break into the characters and in their overall grooming as well. And of course, they should definitely increase Doma's role, portrayed beautifully by Tenzein Choden in the first season.

For those who didn't understand the last episode
Puroo1 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Dev is a Jhakhri (I hope that's the spelling, I saw the show with Hindi captions), and he has the power to go back in time and witness the victim's death. Throughout the season he was only going one hour back in time to get a good picture of what happened and to meet Pari and send the victim to the other side. However, after killing Pinto he went only a few minutes behind in time to see Pinto's relation with Yama Nadu. Yama Nadu has the power to see how a person dies, and so he had already seen how Dev will die (Yama Nadu kills him in his meditation). No matter what Dev does, Yama Nadu will kill him.

So the only way to stop Yama Nadu was if none of these things would happen, to be precise, if Dev hadn't stopped Pari twice from kissing him. It was one event after the other, because of which finally this situation came. He changed the time when he stopped her from kissing him the second time to stop Pari's rape and killing, but that's the reason why Yama Nadu was finally going to kill him. And now that Yama Nadu killed Dev, Dev's own soul met his own body to go even further back in time when he had stopped Pari from kissing him the first time.

Because this time they kissed, and the show ended with the hope that they were in love, Pari would no longer be depressed, Dev would no longer hide from Arup, he won't be a prime suspect, they will never separate ways, Pari won't be annoyed at her father, Yama Nadu would never take advantage of this opportunity and they will all be safe. Obviously this won't go as happily, because from what The Flash has taught me, timelines can never be completely fixed no matter what we do. Now THIS is some genius writing right there!

It's not very common for Indian shows or movies to have a setting in Northeast. As far as I can guess, normally they don't do it thinking the audience will not "relate" to it. And it seems The Last Hour absolutely decided to go all out on that - Fine, we won't relate at all. Personally I like those kinds of styles more. And style is literally what this show is all about. The Last Hour is a non-conventional show that isn't something any layman can understand just by looking at it. The top review thinks the last episode left it unanswered and made him fool (I don't know why he said "us", because at least I understood, and I haven't talked to anyone else yet who has seen this), that's how complicated this show is.

Unlike normal Prime Originals that have an A rating, this one isn't filled with profane language and nudity. In fact it has only 3 F-bombs in the entire season, only 2 sex scenes and 3-4 kissing scenes (2 of them being the important to the story). In fact this show is so peaceful and relaxing that I used to watch it on our family TV with my parents also seeing what I'm watching. I have literally no idea why it has an A-rating. It should have been U/A.

There are a lot of deaths that happen throughout the series. This always makes the audience feel uncomfortable regarding who might be next, or how the story moves ahead. In the very first episode itself the police officers who escorted Arup, Dev's brother and Amu's father got killed (I hope that's her spelling, since I was watching with Hindi captions). Seeing all that happen, my first reaction was like, "Wait, did half the cast just die in the first episode itself? Then what are they going to show in the remaining 7 episodes?" Even Pari was about to commit suicide if it wasn't Dev who came just in time to stop her.

I liked everything about this show - the settings, the acting, the story, the music, everything. Sanjay Kapoor did justice to his role, and the show did justice to him. I hope he gets more popularity with time. Also like I mentioned above, the show really makes the audience think. It's not for the Mirzapur or Four More Shots Please audience. The way the last episode ended, I have a hunch that it will keep getting more and more complicated as time moves on.

Story and plot is undoubtedly superior., But the direction is somewhat not clear. Sometimes many scenes are shown one by one, with no linkage.

Hungry for more Supernatural Thrillers from India
kumar_vishwas14 May 2021
The Last Hour is the latest offering from the platform that is considered to be the best in grabbing the eyeballs of global audience through its Indian originals, and yet again they have brought in something that is new and at the same time an experimental genre for our country....a Supernatural Thriller from the mountains of eastern India.

The story begins with the premise of murder of a young actress and a newly transferred cop taking up the case and encountering with a Shaman to solve the murder mysteries happening in the town just to find that the murders have a relation to the Shaman's past as well as present and if I go ahead that would be spoilers for you.

Sanjay Kapoor always has a feel good vibe on screen and similar to that he is again looking terrific as "Arup" a cop transferred from a metro city to a small town along with his daughter played by "Pari" played by Shaylee Krishen who feels feared at times due to a disturbed past, while Karma Takapa plays the second lead as "Dev", the Shaman on whose power's the entire series rests upon, Sanjay Kapoor is assisted by the beautiful and confident Shahana Goswami as Lipika helping to get the crime under control, and Robin Tamang playing the role of a ruthless Jhakri "Yama Nadu" hungry for power in this cat and mouse tale, special mention to Raima Sen who doesn't have a single dialogue to express but her eyes and expressions being enough to make an impact.

The Series immediately pickups up the pace in the first few minutes and keeps the audience hooked up till the fourth episode, the plot gets somewhere lost from the fifth episode but immediately catches back from the very next episode, the environment set up by Amit is perfect for a crime thriller with excellent cinematography but the loopholes and lazy writing in between might make a viewer yawn at times.

The cast is on point and it is a welcome move by Amazon to get talented actors from the eastern part of the country into the main stream originals, the series is 8 episode watch and can be completed in a binge as the twists and turns keep you engaged and cliff hanger that promises another thrilling season.

Ok ok

Dev had the same expression in the whole story, even the heroine, Sanjay Kapoor and his colleague lipika was only ones to watch! Story was very much predictable... though a bit interesting... but it was the same thing getting repeated in all episodes over and over...

VERY GOOD STORYLINE BUT....
sunildaswaney-6364225 May 2021
"THE LAST HOUR"had a very good storyline but the acting by the entire cast (except the guy who acted as Dev)was very poor and thus the series suffered. The production values were extremely poor as Sikkim where the series was shot is heavily under developed. In order to make way for a possible 2nd season, the 1st season ended abruptly and on a highly stupid note.

Fresh concept
kridaysood18 May 2021
The storyline is unique, shot in beautiful hilly landscape. Fresh faces are such a pleasant change. One star deducted for slow pace of the plot, one for limited acting skills ( except shahana goswami) and one for the v v poor face job on shaylee krishen.

guptaseemant18 May 2021
I watched the series because of the review but I realised i wasted my time.. i don't know why it is getting high ratings.. The series is too slow and became directionless and they didn't even complete it in this season. There is no need of a 2nd season.. don't watch it guys!!

Good to watch
ramandeepsinghkohli21 May 2021
Firstly you should watch this series to see the beauty of North East India.

This series is quite a different from other Indian series.

All the actors very able to justify their roles specially Robin Tamang (Yama Nadu) and Karma Takapa (Dev).

Few episodes felt like they were stretched a bit.

Final episode of season 1 is quite interesting and now waiting for the season 2 to release asap.

Bad casting, horrible acting and screenplay
riyanr-riyan22 May 2021
Don't know why people have given this 7 rating!

Story had a novel idea but it's sad that how much creators can screw a content.

The only thing that can be appreciated is that they used Indian untouched locations of North East.

Horrible screenplay.. horrible acting and storyline!

Could have done so much with the idea that they had.

Something New From Bollywood
IPyaarCinema21 May 2021
Review By Kamal K

I loved the series. Always a sucker for thrillers, The Last Hour presented a unique combination of a slow burn thriller, intense acting, simmering and unexpressed passion, out of the world cinematography, supernatural element, the mystic of the hills and it's clouds & fog, a who-dunnit story, time travel and an over riding eerie feeling. Perfect for a late night watch and all the more better if it's raining. Left me confused with the ending.. Guess will know as and when there is a sequel. All actors are very good, restrained in their acting. Dev's central character manages to hold the series together.
