Feature length adaptation when?

What is the point if you're not going to make a feature length live-action adaptation that would be a surefire box office hit. This property deserves a franchise treatment. Come on EA!

Does not get me curious about the video game

This is "Conviction", a 2019 live action short film that runs for under 4 minutes and is story-wise closely linked to the video game Anthem, also from 2019. It is not a rarity that fans of video games make little movies that take place in the same universe, frequently low-budget, but this one here is the opposite. You don't really see an Oscar nominee like Neill Blomkamp doing such an approach, but if you do like this time here, of course there is enough money involved to guarantee a visually fine outcome. Also I would not even say his involvement here is that surprising because if you have seen what he did in recent years with Oats Studios, then this one here kinda fits in. I am not really sure if he is doing himself a favor here career-wise, but I think he does what he wants to do, so good for him overall I suppose. Sadly, I was not too impressed story-wise, which may have a lot to do with me too because sci-fi is really not my favorite genre and the story of the girl who appeared in the jungle and what her secret might be did not make me very curious either. Perhaps it helps if you know a bit about Anthem or have played it if you want to appreciate this short film by Blomkamp here. I have done neither and it's possible that backfires. Then again, I would not say it should be ssential in any case to have seen or played one thing to appreciate another. Maybe to understand it better, but not to be essential. So my decision here leans towards a thumbs-down. Don't watch unless you are a fan of the game.
