This short movie is beautifully shot and shows what it is like to struggle between coming out, but alienating your family in the process. I love how it has no standard happy ending, but instead shows what it is really like.

It had potential, but lost it.

This film covers just a few moments in a young man's life. His boyfriend shows up unexpectedly at the home of the young man's parents and older brother. The mother and the brother are extremely religious. It soon becomes apparent that the young man is having a relationship with the boyfriend, except, like so many other GLBTQ people, the young man is living in the fantasy that his relatives will never find out.
When the brother lashes out at the boyfriend in horrifically cruel ways, the young man does stand up and tell the brother to shut up, but he does not admit that he's in a relationship with the boy, nor does he defend his boyfriend from the hateful things the brother says.
The boyfriend finally leaves, the mother says that the young man will need to speak to the pastor, and then the young man has a flashback to a moment when he's in bed with his sleeping boyfriend, telling him that he loves him.
It may be that this kind of story happened to someone, but there is no comeuppance, no chasing after one's dream, no standing up for one's self, no throwing it back in the face of the oppressors. There is nothing. And so, despite the fact that the film is shot fairly well and that all the actors, except the lead, did a pretty good job, this movie never really takes off. It had potential, but just never got there.
