Series 2 Review

The rejigged series 2 of Trust Me was very different and much inferior from the first series.

With a new cast and a new story. There are some oblique links to Doctor Who (such as a screensaver of a Tardis) to acknowledge what happened to Jodie Whittaker from the first series.

Series 2 is set in the neurological unit of a Glasgow Hospital. Corporal Jamie McCain (Alfred Enoch) is a soldier who survived an enemy attack. He now needs to make a long term recovery from his spinal injury that has left him paralysed for the time being.

However he comes to a realisation that the patients around him seem to suddenly die. Only one patient noticed who alerted Jamie. The hospital doctors seem unwilling to investigate when Jamie raises the issue. They think it might be all in in his mind.

Jamie is also troubled with something else that happened in the conflict zone, which is also troubling him. He might be responsible of the death of someone else.

This was a rather inert series two and not just because the main character was bed ridden. It was darkly lit in the hospital ward, you cared little about the characters and the story.

The final episode revealed that a serial killer was on the loose and it even had a cynical ending with the promotion of a mean nasty doctor.

However the series tanked in the ratings. The viewers lost interest and cared little.
