As always, an excellent episode. However...
Debette-15 February 2019
...I am reading a book about Victoria which is based on letters both from her and from six members of her household. In this book, it says that Skerritt worked for her - and evidently remained single - until her retirement at age 70. So - I guess there's some creative license here.

Some of the Horrors of the Nineteenth Century

Warning: Spoilers
There are two main focuses in this episode. The first is a serious conflict between Victoria and Albert. Albert continues to feel like a lapdog. He decides to go to Cambridge where he can become a non-power role in the college. He wishes to take scientific knowledge to a college that has, for 600 years, based itself on theology. Albert obviously sees this as already a serious weakness when it comes to advancing knowledge. The other focus is a cholera epidemic that has hit Soho, a poorer part of London. The scientific community is willing to let poor people die to weed out those who are sick (there is no knowledge what causes this disease). Victoria decides to go into the city and is stunned. There is also a very sad event that takes place at the end.

Foreign Bodies

Warning: Spoilers
You can't go wrong with college intellectuals arguing over mundane things, but overall this was an okay episode of Victoria. The pacing seems to be better but I think three series in the writers are really struggling to find subject matter to tackle.

New Victoria director hit a home run
JJ-1529 February 2019
Apparently this is the first Victoria episode directed by Chloe Thomas, and hopefully not the last. For those who have followed the story from the beginning, this a heartbreaker that will try to rip at your soul. Perhaps some creative license was taken with the historical timeline, but we knew that show would be a dramatization of events... not a historical documentary. Feeling the helpless pain of medical ignorance in the 19th century is played out with a deft hand, that leaves us feeling both grateful for the modern medicine we have today, and thankful to the show for letting us in.
