The crew at the end would not need to pop the cover to see that they were on Mars. They would feel it as soon as they stood up. Mars only has about 38% of the gravity of Earth and this would be immediately obvious.
The ship deploys 2 counter weights that are used to provide a centrifugal spin to produce artificial gravity. But you would still have/experience zero gravity at the midline of the ship and you would not be able to walk on the floor as shown.
The first "Duration to Arrival" message says that they have 230 days and 18 hours. That is 63.21% of a year, or just over 7 and a half months. After another update, they are at 188 days and 2 hours. The progress map behind Jerry shows where the Earth was whey they launched and where the Earth will be when they arrive. It is nowhere near 63% of its orbit.
