One count of penetrating a space whale?
samofnine8 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nice catch with the robots, since they were programmed and not AIs like Data/Lore... I must say the first two Shorts were my favorites. But I hope the jazzy version of the Discovery theme will be on the next soundtrack!!! It's so beautifully smooth!

Entertaining remake
swatter6 January 2019
This brief 15 (not 10, as posted on the page) minute episode is clearly a nod to I, Mudd in TOS, an episode that featured advanced robots long before Data and Lore, although it takes the premise in a very different direction. This Mudd is also far more entertaining than the original Mudd. If Bugs Bunny had a chaotic evil twin in space, it would probably be this version of Mudd. The incessant trouble-making and pleading when caught, the unusual ways of taking revenge--somehow it all works. This is the fun, rather than the deep side of Star Trek, but it still manages to play with some tropes along the way. Worth the watch for anyone who likes the series. .

Best Short Trek So Far
thehabsfan5 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A previous reviewer of this episode was ignorant enough to state that this show is a remake because of it featuring androids before Data. I'd like to point out that TOS featured androids in the episodes "What Are Little Girls Made Of", "Return to Tomorrow", and even another Harry Mudd episode "I, Mudd". Some people's hate of any new Star Trek sometimes blinds their commons sense.

This is an excellent mini-episode and really shows the potential of the short trek format. Really, only one of the four so far have been average (Runaway), while the rest have been excellent. I hope we see more of Harry Mudd, android-version or real, in future Star Trek episodes. Maybe even a Harry Mudd spinoff?

Entertaining

They were never too careful with the canon or not even with their books, but this episode is good, there is enough action and ..surprise ..the wooden acting style of the main actors doesn't exist in this episode (thanx God!).I expected to see the most stupid episode until now,but ,boy,i was wrong.I don't enjoy to watch Rick and Morty ,and i don't like Harry Mudd as a character ,but this is pretty good, who knows, maybe the animated series will be a good one ,too.

Fun, Silly, Twisted, Well-Crafted

Rainn Wilson and Mike McMahan make a great writing-directing duo in this fun and fast-paced romp with Harry Mudd's latest con. Easily my favorite Short Trek, and probably the best discovery content so far. I look forward to Lower Decks from McMahan as well!

Star Trek Discovery is a REMAKE.
duck_dodgers-432844 January 2019
The acting was great in this short episode, but this episode is the proof DSC is a remake, not a soft reboot or a refit or a re-quack-quack ,lol.We know Data had only a brother and Romulans had another android ,almost a century later,so this can't be ..canon .But that is alright ,because my mind can't relate this show to the another series from the franchise, and anyway it is almost certain humans will develop androids much earlier than they will develop the starships.Probably this is the most original episode, because Calypso (the best episode IMHO) was very much inspirated by ...Nightflyers (i don't know how they did it but is true ).As an ex-soldier i hoped to see a remake like The Last Ship (in space) or like Stargate Universe (but with more positive characters) or unleast like Stargate Atlantis, because Discovery is realistic only for geeks who doesn't know anything about war and the army excepting the things they saw in war movies ,but i still have hopes for this series and for the future of this franchise, even if i still don't get how they will connnect the new remake universe with the TNG universe, because the whole Star Trek continuum is more twisted even than the X-men timeline from Marvel movies. P.S. @ thehabsfan ,offcourse they had robots before Data, but nothing as complex as him (they said that many times) but those replicas are behaving more complex even than Lore, they seems to have very complex emotions,so if they were so evoluated what can be so special on Data to be considered so unique ?

This is pretty good but..

-I have only one thing to say :-Do you think the new BSG earned its title as the best sci-fi series with goofy characters like Tilly and Mudd ,with main characters like Burnham ,or with uniforms suitable for PC games ?

Good
This is a good episode, but to let a whole animated series in the hands of the guy who made Rick and Morty is wrong.I know the series is popular among the little children, but the series is a huge trash ,Batman TAS or Fish Police are cartoon series much clever made than this visually pain cartoon series. With another words : -Danger Will Robinson, danger !

This is NOT canon.
captain_meatball6 January 2019
-Sooo..they had more advanced robots than Lore with 100 years before the existence of Data/Lore ....?!?..how is this canon..?!?!..I never saw robots capable to have such super feelings before in the world of Star Trek so this is something new.If this is a visual remake why they didn't change Mudd and his fat androids in a Terminator style guys, because nobody is affraid of supraponderal guys anymore ..?!?...lol.
