Incredible to say the least
uusi-kansio1 February 2020
Whilst one would expect this show to be scripted and appeal to the kind of humor Jack Whitehall professes in, this season and especially these episodes concerning the eternal British joke theme of all time - Romania and the romanian people has proven itself in the era of hard hitting justice for oppressed and misrepresented people around the world to be just a continuation for cheap humour at the expense of some or others. Some events and moments that unfold in this episode are quite comedically inspired and refined, others just do a disservice to the Whitehalls and all other Brits that visit the region of Transylvania and Romania altogether. Continued portrayal of 'fringe' groups of the society as authentic values and/or the ubiquitous usage or at least trial to enunciate the savagery (by means of emphasizing bad roads, muddy courtyards and or suggesting the rip-off technique) of such a backward place and people just makes you want to 'stop and change the channel'. An overall amusing program becomes unfortunately just a cheap shot at the expense of others. Michael Whitehall tries to maintain his composure for undoubtedly scripted moments of infantilism and stupidity on behalf of his son, thus creating comedy but again losing value by portraying the patriarch of the family as snobby, with a temper and overall arrogant. This is the main error of the scripting. One who has lived more than 70 years can not be this superficial and if truly so then all the nastiness of Jack is well deserved.
