Greece still is the only country that does not have a professional league, only Olympic Style boxing. Partly due to the forced integration of Native Greek boxers from the Pontus area of the former Soviet Union, Greek boxing is mostly influenced by Russia and other countries of the former Eastern Bloc. One of them was Alekos Tsanikides, Alexander's father. He is currently head Coach of the Greek Team and 3rd Rank AIBA Trainer. The film also follows his story, while he trains and shapes a future champion with no help from anybody, simply relying on his intuition and expertise. With his help, Alexandros has created a double-guard technique that is his signature. Boxing became an organized sport in 1888. Greece started engaging in the sport nationally after its Olympic inclusion in 1904 and the worldwide rise in its popularity. Olympic-Style boxing has developed its own identity and rules independent of professional boxing. AIBA President Dr.Ching-Kuo Wu explains in the film why he is trying to revive the "Golden Age" of boxing by creating the AIBA ProBoxing, a very controversial decision that stunned the world of Boxing."The Wonder Kid" visually incorporates in the plot the jazz musician that worked for the score, and makes him an active part of the documentary. The music becomes the soul and the background narrator of an innovative and highly aesthetic documentary approach that matches the rhythm, devotion and solitude of Boxing to music. The result is visually and acoustically intense.
