Dan Bell once again invites viewers on a tour of some former retail giants that used to play a large part on our landscapes and our lives. Filmed with an authentic VHS camcorder, this short film documents the slow evolving change of the consumer driven mall era into professional office settings then jolts us into the sadness of the final chapter of the once behemoth children's store as it takes it's final bow and shutters for good due to bankruptcy. Dan does end this journey on a upbeat note though, as he and Rick Serra revisit Glen Burnie's Marley Station Mall. Marley Station opened in the mid 80s and retains the neon aesthetic as well as continuing to bring in business. Viewing the mall today through the VHS camcorder of yesteryear is poignant and perfect, an additional layer of art and depth of feeling.
